InserttheCDandtheprogramwillinitializeautomatically.Ifthesetupprogramdoesnotautomaticallybegin,
clickStart,selectRun,typeD:\Launch.exeandclickOK.
Aftertheprogrambegins,selectInstallCarlson2016.

Duringtheinstallationprocess,youwillbepromptedforyourserialnumber.ThiscanbefoundeitherontheCD
caseoronyourdistributionsheet.IMPORTANT:EachlegalcopyofCarlson2016hasitsownserialnumber.
SpecifywhichfolderyouprefertoinstallCarlson2016in.IncaseofusingmultipleversionsofAutoCAD,please
selectindividualfoldersofCarlson2016foreachversion.

ThismodewillNOTgiveyouanetworklicensethough,anditisNOTrequiredforpeoplerunninganetworklicense.
WorkandDatafolders.Workgroupsmaychoosetostoretheirdrawingsanddatafilesinthecentrallocation.
Pleasespecifywheretheprogramshouldlookforfiles.
Youwillbepromptedforprofiletouseasatemplate.Thisisanoptionalinputtobeusedwhenthereisan

Inthecourseofyourinstallation,youmaygetaprompttocarryoveryoursettingsifyouhadSurvCADD
installedonyoursystem.Pleasestateyourpreference:

Atthispoint,installationwillstart.Afterallthefileshavebeencopied,youhavetoselectwhichcopyof
AutoCADyouwillbeusing,asyoumayhavemultipleAutoCADverticalsinstalledonthesamesystem.
Ityouseeinstallationtakelongtimewithoutanyapparentactivity,pleasemakesureanyotherapplicationson
computerareshutdown.Thisdelayiscausedbycomponentregistrationwaitingforotherapplicationstoexit.
Installationwillcreateaseparateshortcutonyourdesktopforeachmajorcomponentoftheprogram.

theinputandthendeploytherestofthecomputersusingtheinputrecordedwheninstallingonthefirstone.

PleasenotethatthismethodwilluseidenticalCarlsonserialnumberonallthesilentlyinstalledmachines.Thisis
correctincaseofnetworklicensemode,butisnotproperforstandalonelicenses.Inthatcase,priortoregistration,
pleasenavigatetoHelp,AboutCarlson,Changeregistration,removescriptednumberandenterproperuniqueserial
numberassignedtotheworkstation.Afterthat,thenewnumberisOKtoregister.

NetworkLicenseServerInstallation
Fornetworklicensingserverinstallationinstructions,clickhereorgototheKnowledgeBaseatwww.carlsonsw.com.

Runningforthefirsttime
Whenyoulaunchtheprogramforthefirsttime,itwilltrytoconnecttotheupdatesserver,toseeifanyprogram
updateshasbeenpostedsincetheCDwascreated.Unlessyouindicateotherwise,theprogramwilldothisona
weeklybasis,tomakesurethatyourCarlsonproductisuptodateonfixestoallknownproblems.

Registration
IMPORTANT!ALLINSTALLATIONSOFTHISSOFTWAREREQUIREAUNIQUESERIALNUMBER.Ifyouare
runningthissoftwareonmorecomputersthanyouhavepurchasedlicensesfor,youmustbuyadditionalcopies.
EachCarlsonprogramislicensedforuseononeworkstationwhichmustberegistered.Theregistrationrecordsyour
companynameandAutoCADserialnumber.ToregisteryourcopyofCarlson,startCarlsonandchoose"Register
Now".Thefollowingdialogwillappear.

processwillstart.
