PRIMAVERA WINDOWS SERVICES
V1.0 SR4
Version 1.0
November 2012
Introduction
This document describes the PRIMAVERA Windows Services v1.0 SR4 (AWS)
solution and its installation process, namely its services (ex. PRIMAVERA
Deployment Center, PRIMAVERA Deployment Center Client, PRIMAVERA
Analytics, PRIMAVERA Fashion Retail and PRIMAVERA Electronic Data
Interchange).
This solution contains the Deployment Center service. This service aims to
support the automatic installations of maintenance builds, service releases and
new PRIMAVERA products. It also allows managing installations, updates and
uninstallations on server and stations from the central console, remotely and
automatically.
Thus, among other possibilities, it will be possible to:
- Reduce the time spent on the builds update process in Users. Therefore,
updates are obtained more quickly;
- Manage, in a very simple way, the necessary updates;
- Manage ignored updates;
- View the history of updates performed;
- Remote installation on the stations individually or in lot;
- Integrated and remote uninstallation of PRIMAVERA applications;
- Applications export / import, between different servers, when it is not
possible to use Deployment Center online.
In order to see the most up to date version of this manual, we suggest you check online in the
PRIMAVERA KnowledgeBase.

PRIMAVERA Windows Services
Installation
This chapter presents the minimum requirements and the Windows Services
product installation process and its services.
Requirements
For the correct installation of the Windows Services and its services, the
necessary requirements are:
1.
2.
3.
For Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 SP1 Operating Systems, you must
install the Microsoft Management Console 3.0 (MMC 3.0), from a free download
link on Microsoft's website (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957502).
The latest Service Packs for Windows XP (SP3) and Windows 2003 (SP2),
already offer the MMC 3.0 by default, thus, if you have these versions, you
won't have to make any additional installation.

Next, each station should access that network share and the
"WindowsService100" folder and run the SetupPosto.exe in order to
install the Deployment Center Client;

From this moment, and by configuring a license in the Deployment Center, it's
possible to have immediate access to all PRIMAVERA applications available for
installation from the internet and in a fully automatic manner. Thus, it's possible
to make a first installation and update of all modules of applications like ERP and
The Deployment Center Installer automates the .NET 4.0 framework installation,
which is used by the product. The remaining dependencies, like the MMC
console and eventual hotfixes (in windows XP) and the windows installer 3.1
(Windows XP and Windows 2003) should be previously installed. These
dependencies can be found here.
This section presents the manual installation of Windows Services and of the
Deployment Center service.
Pre-requirements
On this manual installation scenario, the installation wizards don't make any
pre-requirements validation, so, it's up to the user to ensure these are correctly
installed / present in the system before proceeding with the modules'
installation.
According to the operating system's version it may be necessary to manually
download and install some of these requirements. The article "How to install the
Deployment Center pre-requirements" contains detailed information on the
necessary pre-requirements based on the operating system's version.

From the Deployment Center service installation, this process undergoes a slight
change, since the Deployment Center works in an agnostic manner regarding
the PRIMAVERA ERP v8.00.
Thus, it will be necessary to share the "PRIMAVERA" folder. Thus, we are able to
put inside it a "WindowsService100" folder and make the updates immediately
visible at the stations. Something that wouldn't be possible with the share
placed inside the "SG800" folder.
Since the AWS works on the MMC, we may access the AWS by means of various
alternatives, for example, directly through the MMC console. However, you must
start the console always in 32bit mode.

Configuration
This chapter presents the Windows Services and the Deployment Center and
Deployment Center Client services configuration process.
