Introduction
Overview
Massive data growth motivates IT organizations to invest more in data availability and data protection. The ETERNUS CS200c PBBA
(Purpose-Built Backup Appliance), based on Fujitsu hardware and CommVault Simpana data protection software, has been developed in order to
make such investment as simple as possible over the complete process - from sales up to daily operating.Based on the approach Simplicity is
the key, the main focus of the ETERNUS CS200c functionality is on:
Seamless incorporation of server, storage, operating system and the data protection software
This document describes the steps required for a successful setup of the ETERNUS CS200c backup appliance on the customer premises. It
provides technical information regarding prerequisites, installation and configuration.
The document is mainly designed for technical post-sales people who have to carry out the installation. A good understanding of CommVault
Simpana software and the Windows operating system combined with basic knowledge about PRIMERGY server systems is assumed.
The document is a Fujitsu internal paper which must not be disclosed outside the company.

The ETERNUS CS200c was sold to the customer as a ready-to-run data protection appliance. With the first series now available, the ETERNUS
CS200c is delivered with pre-deployed hardware. The system is fully equipped with the required host bus adapters, disks, etc. at the right slot.
The software, Windows 2012 R2 operating system and Simpana v10 are also preinstalled.
The main tasks for the professional service colleagues on the customer premises is the configuration of the Windows operating system, followed
by the basic Simpana setup with client rollout and their configuration.
Service details
The main tasks are:
Simpana configuration
o Install the CommServe with Media Agent or Media Agent only role
o Make the basic CommServe configuration (licensing, disk libraries, policies, )
o Run a test backup of the local server (ETERNUS CS200c)
o Roll out the clients and configure them
o Run a test backup for each client
The work, described in this paper, is part of the general tasks defined in the CS200c PS Deployment Service datasheet.

3.1
Best practice for remote access to the CS200c is to use the iRMC (integrated remote management controller). After power on, the first step is to
carry out the iRMC network configuration. To do this, connect keyboard, mouse and monitor to the CS200c and power on the system. The iRMC
network configuration is available in the system BIOS (press F2 to enter the setup).
Alternatively, without keyboard mouse and monitor, the iRMC must be placed in a LAN with DHCP and dynamic DNS enabled. These
prerequisites enable a connection with the name <IRMCxxxxxxxx> where xxxxxxxx represents the last three bytes of the MAC address of the
iRMC.
The MAC address of the iRMC can be taken from the sticker on the top right corner of the CS200c housing or from the green label on the front of
the CS200c.
After the configuration, use Internet Explorer or another web browser to connect to the iRMC with http://<IP-Address>. Default login is user
admin with password admin.
Click on console redirection (JWS) for the console access. To power on the system go to the Power Management menu.
3.2
Windows setup
Please power on the system for the first time. Windows only carries out internal tasks and initiates a reboot after some minutes.
Windows then asks for the system language and keyboard layout. As language, English or German is available.

The license agreement has to be accepted and the local administrator password must be entered. Default is CS200c.
After clicking on finish, the system enters the normal operating mode and the administrator can login to continue the configuration.
After login, an empty cmd window is seen. This is from the diskpart script. Then the first question for automatic device connection via network
appears. Should be answered with no or with yes if customer agrees.
The two applications are now started automatically, the server manager and the Simpana appliance setup. Do not close the Simpana appliance
setup window because you need it later on.

Click on the Server Manager window and start the Computer Management from the tools menu.
Select Disk Management in the left panel and check the disk layout. It should look like this with only one partition per volume. The sizes of the
volumes are different, depending on the CS200c model.
All partitions must fill the complete volume size. Disk 3 must have GUID partition table (GPT). Please check the Disk 3 properties. If you have
other results, a log file (partition_extend.log) from the automatic partition extension is available at C:\ApplianceInstall\Fujitsu. Manual
intervention is needed to create the correct partition sizes.

http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/ETERNUS
Technical Paper
Disk 3 (Lib01) must not have a drive letter. The volume is using only a mount point in C:\DiskLibrary\Lib01. If you have other results, please
correct manually. Depending on the problem it could be necessary to delete the directory Lib01 in C:\DiskLibrary and create a new one with the
same name before mounting is possible.
You can now close Computer Management. Before you close Server Management, go to Manage and Server Manager Properties and set the
checkmark at Do not start Server Manager automatically at logon.
Continue with the Simpana appliance setup. It will also cover the next steps of the Windows configuration.
3.3
The Simpana appliance setup (C:\ApplianceInstall\Sapphire\SapphireApplication.exe) is automatically started with each system reboot until it
has finished successfully. Run it now to configure Windows and install Simpana as CommServe with MediaAgent or MediaAgent only.
The appliance setup logo is shown. Click on Agree to accept the license agreement and to continue.

The available network interfaces (with an active link) are shown and a minimum of one must be selected (otherwise the Next button is not
available). The minimum is the management network. In a system without active LAN connection (e.g. no link) the setup cannot continue.
For the Simpana backup environment it is best practice to use fixed IP addresses and no DHCP.
The configuration here is only an example. Please use the customer specific settings.

Type in the required information such as host name and domain name as well as the domain user credentials with the ability to add a new
computer to the domain. A restart is required after clicking on Next.
Important: Be sure to have the right system name and domain membership. Changing this information later on after the Simpana setup has
been completed requires a manual intervention by a service technician.
When the restart has been completed, the Simpana appliance setup continues automatically. The next dialog is the selection of the Simpana
role which the CS200c should fulfil.
First CS200c of a CommCell normally has the role CommServe with MediaAgent. In this case, the email notification settings can be added. On
the other hand, when running as MediaAgent only, the corresponding CommServe system has to be named and must be reachable.

No more information is needed. The configuration for a CommServe with MediaAgent can be started.
After clicking on Configure, the installation starts with the following steps:
The local configuration phase is carried out including Installation of Tomcat services
Some tools are started, followed by filling up the Unix software cache
This last screen shows that the installation has been successful.
The complete installation for CommServe with MediaAgent is less than one hour without user intervention. A shortcut to the Simpana
administration console was added to the desktop. Disk target configuration tool, administration console and process manager were added to
the all apps start menu.

For better access, pin Simpana Administrative Console and Process Manager to the start menu. Because it is not used for the CS200c, remove the
Disk Target Configuration tool from the all apps start menu (right click, open file location, delete shortcut).
Please check the installed modules in Control Panel | Programs and Features. The following Simpana modules must be available.
The Simpana services are started with the operating system. Verify via the Process Manager that the Simpana services are now running and that
the auto start services checkbox is marked.
Running a media agent only configuration is the CS200c appliance operating mode, when an existing CommCell has to be expanded by a
CS200c for performance or capacity expansion. The first installation steps as described before for the CS200c with CommServe and media agent
are the same here in this case.
Type in the required information, such as IP addressing, host name, domain membership etc. After the restart, the Simpana appliance setup
continues automatically.

The next screen shows the selection of the Simpana role for the CS200c. In case of MediaAgent only, the corresponding CommServe system
name has to be entered and the CommServe must be reachable.
After clicking on Configure, the installation runs with the following steps:

The last screen shows that the installation has been completed.
The complete installation is finished in less than 10 minutes without any user intervention. A shortcut to the Simpana administration console
was added to the desktop. Disk target configuration tool, administration console and process manager were added to the all apps start menu.
For better access, pin Simpana administrative console and process manager to the start menu. Because it is not used for the CS200c, remove the
disk target configuration tool from the all apps start menu (right click, open file location, delete shortcut).
The Simpana services are started with the operating system. Verify via the Process Manager that the Simpana services are now running and that
the auto start services checkbox is marked.
Open the local Windows firewall ports for the client communication with the CommServe. Unfortunately, this is not done automatically by the
setup but can be easily done by running the script C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\Base\AddFWExclusions.bat.
This does not include the Simpana firewall configuration in the event of external firewalls. This needs to be discussed and configured depending
on the customer environment.

Device Manager: Verify that no driver is missing and all is correct as needed.
Internet Options: Configure Internet Explorer network access and home page (www.fujitsu.com).
Windows Updates: Configure them for the customer needs. If nothing else is requested, set to check for updates but let me choose whether
to download and install them. Include recommended and other updates. Check for updates and install them.
In case of systems without internet access, disable automatic updates.
Simpana configuration
Pin often used programs like the Simpana Administrative Console to your start screen.
All further Simpana activities should be done with this account.

Login is automatic without user/password request. The first screen is the license expiration warning.
Simpana now runs for 30 days in the evaluation mode. The customer-specific Simpana license must be applied for during this timeframe. The
Getting started screen appears first.
The CS200c is configured as media agent but without disk library and DeDup engine.

Technical Paper
The installation is basically like a normal Simpana installation on a Fujitsu PRIMERGY system. All the missing configuration tasks are the same as
usual and must be adapted to the customers needs. They can be individually changed as needed.
CommCell GUI login
The automatic user login can be changed if needed in the CommCell | Security | CommCell Users dialog by a right-click on the admin user name
and by setting a password in the user properties dialog.
When doing so, the credentials must be entered each time the CommCell GUI is started.
Single sign on
The single sign on (SSO) feature enables users to automatically log on to the CommServe using their user account credentials from the Windows
Active Directory (AD).
To use the feature, a global AD group (e.g. SimpanaAdmins) is mapped to a Simpana group (e.g. master) so that each member of the
SimpanaAdmins is automatically given the Simpana rights of the master group.

Technical Paper
For configuration, go to the CommCell | Security | Name Servers dialog via a right-click on Name Servers and add a new AD domain. Type in
the credentials to access the domain controller and mark enable SSO.
The next step is to define the mapping between an AD user group and a CommCell user group. Right-click on External Groups of the previously
created name server entry and click on Add New Group.

Click on Browse to see the available AD groups and select SimpanaAdmins. Associate it to the master CommCell group. If the newly created
AD group SimpanaAdmins is not yet visible in the browser window, log out from CommCell and try again.
SSO is now enabled. All members of the SimpanaAdmins are automatically logged into the CS200c CommCell and assigned the rights of the
master group. Members of other Windows groups are asked for the traditional Simpana login dialog.
Apply license file
The regular license file must be applied for to run Simpana for the normal operating phase. This must occur before the evaluation period is over.
Open the Simpana control panel and select License Administration.

Email notification
First, check the assigned email addresses of the Simpana users. Go to CommCell | Security | CommCell Users, right click on admin, open the
properties dialog and add the email address.
The email address for an AD user cannot be set here. It must be done in the users properties at the domain controller.
To verify email notification, open the Simpana control panel and select Email & Web Server Configuration. In the following dialog, add the
necessary server and sender information. Depending on the security settings of the email server, it may be necessary to add a validated senders
address or configure authentication before it is possible to send mails.

The second step is that a DR policy is needed. The entry is available but without a link to the newly created DR library.
To add the DR library information, right-click on Primary and select All Tasks | Change Data Path. Because it is a simple disk library, only the
library has to be selected in the Change Data Path dialog.
Details of the DR backup retention period can be adapted for personal requirements in the Primary Copy Type properties dialog.
Job parameters (e.g. start time) of the DR backup job can be changed in the general scheduler settings. Default start time is daily at 10:00
oclock.
http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/eternus
http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/ETERNUS
Technical Paper
The last step is to configure the DR backup settings. They are available in Control Panel | DR Backup Settings.
The last five copies are stored in the Back up Metadata to this folder entry. The default is the folder from the DR disk library but it can be
changed to a different location if needed.
At last, the DR information is backed up as described in the DR policy. In this example, the target is the same network share but written in
tape format and stored for 60 days / 60 cycles as defined in the policys retention settings.
Check the DR backup job by starting it manually from the CommCell and make sure at all three locations that the backup data are populated as
expected. If there are problems, the main reason can be missing access rights to the share. Apply user credentials for the share in the DR backup
settings dialog again.
If using only a file share for the DR information, share configuration in the DR backup settings is sufficient and the configuration of a DR disk
library can be skipped.
Software cache
The software cache is controlled by the CommServe. The default location is C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\SoftwareCache and can be set
in Control Panel | Add/Remove Software. For the CS200c, the location does not need to be changed because the space for the software cache is
considered in the C: drive size calculation.
Index cache
The index cache is controlled by each media agent. The default location is C:\Program Files\CommVault\Simpana\IndexCache and can be set in
the Media Agent properties catalog tab. For the CS200c the location does not need to be changed because the space for the index cache is
considered in the C: drive size calculation.
Data aging
Outdated or deleted backup sets are removed from the backup device by a data aging job. The job is also clearing outdated IntelliSnap
snapshots or clones. The job is automatically created during installation. Default running time is daily at 12:00 oclock. Job parameters (e.g. start
time) can be changed via a right-click on the CommServe and select View | Schedules.

http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/ETERNUS
Technical Paper
Look for the Data Aging job, right-click and select Edit to modify parameters.
Default reports
Two report jobs, the media information report and the job summary report, collect basic management information. The job output is sent by
email to the administrators email address. The jobs are automatically created during installation. Default running time is daily at 08:00 oclock.
Job parameters (e.g. start time) can be changed in the same way as described above for the Data Aging job.
Stop cloud metrics reporting
Error messages, such as Commserver failed to connect to Cloud Reporting Server or similar are sometimes seen in Event Viewer. To
understand the situation here is an explanation about Cloud Metrics taken from Simpana Books Online:
Visit our Cloud Services Web site to view reports based on data collected from your CommCell computers. Reports on our Cloud Services
Web site can be viewed on a Web browser from anywhere in the world. These reports help you to monitor the performance of all your
CommCell computers, gauge the storage capacity for backups, and predict the cost of data protection in your organization. Available
reports include the Activity Report, Monthly Chargeback Report, CommCell Growth Report, and the Health Report.
To view reports, create a login account for our Cloud Services site and activate data collection for reports on each CommCell Computer.
Register each CommCell computer with your e-mail address to create your Cloud Services login account and associate your login
account to each CommCell computer. After you activate data collection, the CommCell computers automatically download and save a
set of data collection scripts from our Cloud Metrics Reporting Server. The data collection scripts run daily to collect information and
store the results on each CommCell computer. Results are automatically uploaded to our Cloud Metrics Reporting Server once every
seven days. Our Cloud Metrics Reporting Server processes the collected data, and then displays reports based on your data on our
Cloud Services Web site.
If not needed, this feature can be disabled via the control panel. Click on the Cloud Metrics Reporting icon and uncheck CommCell Diagnostic
and Usage.
DeDup overview
Deduplication provides an efficient method of storing data that identifies and eliminates duplicate data blocks during backups. All data types
from Windows, Linux and Unix operating systems can be deduplicated before the data is moved to secondary storage. See Deduplication
Support in books online for a comprehensive information on the supported data types.
http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/eternus
http://www.fujitsu.com/fts/ETERNUS
Technical Paper
A signature for the block of data is generated using hash algorithm. Signatures are unique for different data blocks.
The signature is compared against the deduplication database (DDB) of existing signatures for data blocks already in destination storage.
o If the signature already exists, the DDB is updated to reflect another use of an existing data block on destination storage. The
assigned MediaAgent writes the index information and the duplicate data block is discarded.
o If the signature does not exist, the DDB is updated with the new signature. The assigned MediaAgent writes both the index
information and the data block to the destination storage.

For the configuration, start the library and drive configuration from the control panel. With multiple media agents, select the actual CS200c
(here: stol113) for configuration. Only the previously configured DR disk library is available. Click on the Start button, select Add | Disk Library
with Automated Mount Path Detection.
In the Add Disk Library dialog type in a name for the new library and click on ok.
Now verify the media agent and type in the path (C:\DiskLibrary) to the mount point directory. Click OK and the mount path is added to the
media agent.

These steps create the disk library and it can be used. The configured disk library with the first mount path looks like this.
The last step is to check the disk library properties via a right-click on CommCell | Storage Resources | Libraries | AutoMountLib. Automatically
add data paths for new drive pools configured must be ticked. For the mount path usage, Spill and fill mode it is best practice to use all drive
pools in parallel.
Expanding the disk library capacity later is very easy. Add a new volume to a new mount point (e.g. Lib02) in the disk library base directory. The
new disk automatically appears in the Library and Drive Configuration dialog with a status of configured.

The time until the new added mount point is ready to use can take up to 20 minutes.
DeDup storage policy
Create a new storage policy via a right-click on CommCell | Policies | Storage Policies. Select New Global Deduplication Policy.
Select the previously created disk library AutoMountLib as default library. Do not use the DR Backup library.

Select the CS200c system as media agent to serve the policy/disk library.
The default database name can be accepted. Select the CS200 system as media agent for the dedup database. Important: The path to the
database must point to the E: drive because of using the fastest disk drives, 15k SAS or SSD depending on the CS200c model.

Technical Paper
Check the summary and correct settings if necessary. Click on Finish to create the dedup policy.
Together with the dedup storage policy, two new automatically generated entries in the CommCell are available.
In CommCell | Storage Resources | Deduplication Engines, properties of the DeDup database and engine can be adapted for fine tuning. A lot of
usage data is available.
In the client computer default backup set, a system created subclient (DDBBackup) for the DeDup database backup is available. The job is
scheduled to run three times a day at 12 am (0:00), 8 am (8:00) and 4 pm (16:00).

Technical Paper
A storage policy must be assigned in order to activate the job. Tick the job properties shows that none of the existing policies
(CommServeDR(stol113) or GlobalDeDup) can be used. A new one must therefore be created.
Similar to the DR backup definitions, it is best practice to store the DeDup database backup outside the CS200c by using an external NAS share
as backup target. For that, the DDBBackup storage policy was created, pointing to the existing DRbackup disk library. The main features of
the policy are:
Alternatively, it is also acceptable to use the existing DeDup disk library for the DeDup database backups. Backups automatically go
non-deduplicated to the right disk lib. If the disk library is destroyed for some reason, the DeDup database cannot be recovered. This does not
matter as all backed up data has also gone.
Verify DeDup policy and library settings
To verify the functionality, run a manual backup of some files from the CS200c system drive. A new storage policy has to be created for that
simple file based backup.
Assuming all is running fine and no errors occur, the basic Simpana configuration has now been completed. All further steps, such as client
rollout or adding additional media agents, must be carried out as in a normal Simpana environment and does not need additional descriptions
here.

Remember that the Windows firewall must be switched off for the push installation on the client side. After a successful installation, the client
firewall must be switched on again and the corresponding firewall port must be opened for the client CommServe communication.
An alternate installation method is the local installation on the client. All sources for that are on the CS200c at C:\ApplianceInstall\Simpana.
With an external firewall, the complete traffic between CommServe and client can be routed through a tunnel port. This can be configured in the
advanced client properties. The minimum requirement is that the file system core is installed on the client.
On CommServe (stol113) add the client:

Two Fujitsu management tools, AIS Connect and ServerView agents, are allowed on the CS200c. They are not preinstalled but can be
downloaded for installation from http://support.ts.fujitsu.com.
The ServerView installation guide is available from http://manuals.ts.fujitsu.com/file/9192/sv-install-windows-agent-en.pdf.
The AIS Connect manual is here: http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/prim_supportcd/SVSSoftware/Software/AIS_Connect/AIS%20Connect%20Info.pdf.
It is not allowed to install further software onto the CS200c!
3.8
If using the CS200c-SC, additional back-end storage is available by connecting one to five external JX40 disk shelves to the CS200c. The
additional storage must be configured manually before usage. More automation is planned in a later release.
Connect the JX40 disk shelves to the CS200c external RAID HBA. There are two SAS ports available for the first two JX40 systems. They must be
cascaded starting with the third JX40 system. A maximum of three JX40 systems can be cascaded per port.
For disk configuration, start the ServerView RAID manager. Combine always 8 disks from the JX40 to a RAID 6 array (6+2). Right click on the
external RAID controller (LSI MegaRAID SAS 9286CV-8e) and select Create logical drive.

Technical Paper
In the creation dialog select RAID-6 for the RAID level. Verify that the stripe size is set to 64 kB. Then click on the first free disk on the left and
add it to the RAID array by clicking on the Add button. Continue until eight disks have been added. Create the RAID group by clicking on
Create. All other parameters do not need to be changed.
Final RAID configuration step. Set the cache parameters. Select the new created logical drive, select the Settings tab on the right and click on
Edit. Change the cache parameters to those in the screenshot.
The RAID manager can now be closed. Start Windows Disk Management. Look for the new volumes from the JX40. If volumes are missing, try a
disk rescan. Set the new disks online and carry out the initialization. GPT must be selected as partition style; otherwise the maximum partition
size is limited to 2 TB.
Create a new simple volume (partition) over the full disk size on each disk and format the partition in NTFS, best practice for the allocation unit
size is 64kB. Do not assign a drive letter as it is not needed. Instead, mount the new partition in the next free directory of the DiskLibrary
(C:\DiskLib). The Libxx directory must be empty. For better orientation, the volume label should be the same as the mount point (Libxx). The
Simpana disk library configuration is then executed automatically, it may take up to 20 minutes still done.

Within the CS200c entry models (CS200c-S to -XL) backend storage capacity expansion is possible from 1/3 to 2/3 or to 3/3 of the maximum disk
capacity. This example shows the procedure for expanding capacity from 4 TB to 8 TB with the CS200c-M model.
At the beginning, a 4 TB disk library is available in Simpana.
In the Server View RAID Manager, the disk library which should be expanded is seen as LogicalDrive_3. The four physical disks are
Seagate(1:2), (1:5), (1:6) and (1:7), configured as RAID 6 (2+2).

If two new additional HDDs are plugged in, they appear on the left-hand tree structure.
To expand the volume capacity, right-click on the LogicalDrive_3 and select the Migrate logical drive option. This operation requires the write
access mode. If RAID Manager is still in the read-only access mode, a pop up asks you to change the modes.
Select the first new HDD in the following dialog. The drive can be identified by the white icon on the left. Add it to the logical drive by pressing
the Add button. Do the same for the second disk.

To apply all changes and to start the migration process, click on the Apply button.
The migration process starts when the action has been confirmed. The procedure can take a long time depending on the disk type and size.
Nevertheless, the expanded volume is already operational with its full new size and can be used normally. The migration process is executed in
the background.
The last step is to expand the partition size in the Windows Disk Manager so that the new size is available to Simpana. It may be necessary to
run a rescan disks to make the new size visible.

When expanding the Lib01 volume, right-click on it and select Extend Volume. The Extend Volume Wizard starts and - in the next screen select the complete available space of Disk 3 to extend the volume. Click on Next to continue and confirm the process by selecting Finish.
The new disk library size is automatically detected by Simpana. It may be necessary to close and reopen the CommServe management GUI in
order to make the changes visible.
The last step before starting the productive operating mode is to create a disaster recovery image. The image is used to reset the CS200c to the
initial setup status.

You can then back up the complete server or just some selected volumes. Fujitsu recommends the full-server backup.
There are two possibilities for the backup destination. Either the backup can be stored on a local drive or on a remote shared folder. Fujitsu
recommends saving this backup image on a portable USB hard disk.
