Passivation Coating

ZINCALUME steel has a

Zinc-Aluminium alloy
coating of 150 grams per
square meter distributed
equally on both sides of
the coated strip.

The special passivation treatment of ZINCALUME steel reduces

the rate of oxidation and resultant dis-colouration. The passivation
coating also improves resistance to early corrosion.

ZINCALUME steel coils

are typically supplied in
grade G550 (minimum
yield strength 550MPa)

thickness ranging between 0.40 mm to 0.80 mm and strip width
ranging between 940 mm to 1220 mm. Special requirements in
different parameters can be offered on request.

Resin Coating
ZINCALUME steel has a clear resin coating that complements its
unique spangle, and gives a satin smooth finish. The resin coating
on ZINCALUME steel provides excellent mark-resistance qualities.

ZINCALUME steel is manufactured and supplied as per Australian

Standard AS1397.

Alloy Coating
ZINCALUME steel has a Zinc-Aluminium alloy coating (55% Al,
43.4% Zn & 1.6% Si) done on a continuous hot dip metal coating line.
The alloy coating of ZINCALUME steel provides excellent corrosion
resistance and has been found to possess greater resistance to
cracking and peeling.

Corrosion Protection Mechanism

ZINCALUME steel combines both the galvanic protection of Zinc,

Corrosion Resistance Performance

ZINCALUME steel is extensively tested in laboratory and in actual
conditions, to evaluate its corrosion resistance performance in
different environments. It is particularly preferred for the tropical
climates and marine environments of SAARC.
On an average ZINCALUME steel (AZ150 coating) lasts up to
four times longer than Galvanised steel (Z275 coating) in
similar environment conditions.

Aluminium is lighter than Zinc, which means that for the same sheet
weight, Zinc-Aluminium coated steel sheets will cover a larger
surface area than Zinc coated (Galvanised) steel sheets, of
equivalent base metal thickness.
