Oilseed Cleaning And Selecting
Oilseed cleaning and selecting is of great importance in the oilseed pretreatment process and later procedures. Generally speaking, oilseed cleaning can not only reduce the
wear and tear of the oil processing machinery but also enhance oil yield as well meal quality.
Unavoidably the raw material we gathered including a lot f impurities like straw, mud, sand, stone even iron which may damage the oilseed claning equipment in the cleaning
and separating process. Chaff left in the seed absorbs oil and prevents it from being expelled by the oil pressing machines. Sand in the seed will lead to wear, and stones within
the feed can damage screws of the machinery. Moreover, Impurities will absolutely become oil meal(cake) with absorbing a certain amount of oil in it, thus reduce the oil yield
rate. Besides, too much impurities mixed in the pressed oil will influence the quality both of the oil and the meal.
TCXT series non power magnetic separation machine is mostly used to removemetal impurities in materials. The magnetic raw material is high density magnetic materials, the
body of this oilseed cleaning equipment is fully stainless steel made. Compact structure, high efficiency, land saving, non power needed.
Oilseed Hulling
Hulling process must under consideration when oil plants are high in rate of hull, such as sunflower seeds, peanuts and cotton seeds.
After cleaning, the oil bearing seeds are conveyed to the seed hulling machine to remove hulls from the oil seeds for the purpose of obtaining high quality edible oil by the
processing of kernels. Oilseed hullingis quite necessary and has a lot of advantages. For example, oilseed hulling can efficiently reduce fibrous content of the meal and
increase the marketability as stock feed. As we dont know, about 99% of oil is stored naturally in kernels and the hulls contain not more than 1% oil. If we dont remove hulls,
they will absorbing or retaining oil in the pressed cake and thus reduce total oil yield. Moreover, processing oilseeds without dehulling reduces the capacity of the oil extraction
equipment in addition to more repair and maintenance charges. Besides, wax and coloring matters in hulls always mixed with the pressed oil and you need to refine the oil with
extra money to get better edible oil.

Oilseed Flaking
Conditioned oilseeds are conveyed to the oilseed flaking machine, a machine which ruptures the cell tissue of the seeds and increases the surface area for oil extraction. The
flaking process is the essence of the oil extraction plant. Kernels entering the machine are first pressed into 0.3 millimeter flakes to generate maximum extraction rateswith oil
residues produced at a rate of less than 1 percent. KMEC'sflaking mills are designed for safety and reliability. The scraper is manufactured for precision to ensure continuous
operation with fewer stuck flakes.

Oil extruding machine is commonly used to process rice bran and soybean oil. It can also be used to manufacture different expanded feeds in oil and rice mills, and in
soybean protein factories and feed mills. In fact, KMEC supplies a soybean oil extruding machine specifically for soybeans.
Oil extruding machines, including those for soybeans, transfer mechanical energy into thermal energy by forcing the material along the barrel using a screw. After discharge the
seeds are heated and ready to enter the expeller, which produces the oil.
Reduced solvent content in wet meal to reduce the load of the dosolvatizer.
Improved miscella concentration to reduce the load when vaporizing the solvent in the miscella.
Increased passivation of the enzymes which stay in the oil to improve the quality of extracted crude product.
Reduced energy consumption.

Single Pressing
Single pressing can be also be called full pressing and usually be applied for smaller capacity oil milling plant, single pressing machine will be used in this process. This type
of pressing machine work on the principle of mechanical extraction and it extracts oil from the seeds. If the seeds have high oil content, double pressing should incorporated for
maximum yield. The oil could be extracted as much as possible, the oil residual in cake is around 5-7%. The use of single pressing machine doesnt need the extraction of oil
through chemical treatment.
The major advantage of using single pressing machine is that it increases the yield of oil by a large amounts. The quality of the oil is also pure and healthy as the process is not
chemically treated. Single pressing machines are used to extract oil from nearly all kinds of oil seeds and nuts like:
Sunflower seeds
Cotton Seeds
Mustard seeds
Copra
Groundnuts
Lin seeds
Flax seeds
Soybeans and many more.
Prepressing
Prepressing is just one process in the oil milling plant. Prepressing is usually used for large capacities. The initial oil is extracted by prepressing machine and then the
prepressed cake will be sent into the Solvent Extraction Plant for later processing. Our prepressing machines are of high efficiency and provide durability that helps in
better extraction of oil from different kinds of seeds.
The seeds are first fed into the prepress expeller through the feeder opening. Then enter the pressing chamber, where they willl be pressed. 70% of the oil will be
extracted; the oil residual in cake is around 15-18%. The solid residue from prepressing is used for solvent extraction process so that the remaining oil can be extracted
from it. This type of prepressing machine has proved to be very fruitful to the rising needs for solvent extraction industry. The solvent plants are used to extract the
residual oil from the oil cakes that remain after the extraction of oil through the use of prepressers.

Below are some of our best sell prepressing machines, you can just click on the picture or the words below to view detail infomation about the equipment.
Hot Pressing
The hot pressing of oilseed refers to the application of heat in conjunction with mechanical pressure. In an oil milling plant hot pressing heats the oilseeds using a
specialized hot pressing machine which raises the temperature of the seeds in order to extract more oil.
Cold Pressing
Cold Pressing or cold milling refers to the process of mechanically separating oil through the pressing or crushing oil seeds without the addition of heat or chemicals. Naturally,
this action is performed by a cold pressing machine. As opposed to hot pressing, cold pressing maintains more of the oil's nutrients. The rate of chemical reactions doubles in
the oil press for every additional 10C of heat. This heat acts to increase the yielded quantity of oil, which is why heat pressed oil is cheaper than cold pressed oil. Furthermore,
when too much heat is applied in the oil milling process, the flavor, color, and quality of the extracted oil is affected. However, cold pressing is not totally without heat as its name
implies, as heat is created by friction in the expeller. To prevent denaturing of the oilseed's protein, temperatures should be kept below 70.

Solvent Extraction
Oil Seed Extractor
KMEC's oil seed extractors can process a variety of oilseeds including palm, peanut and sunflower seeds. The palm oil extractor is one popular model, from which the oil is
transported to the desolventizer.
KMEC's rotocel extractor has adopted a variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) drive with an adjustable rotation speed. A chain transmission imparts smooth, reliable
operation. The fixed-plate grid is made of stainless steel. Its precision 18-cell design and transverse plate grid prevents concentrated miscella from flowing to incorrect
chambers.
Unique rotor balancing ensures reduces power consumption, required maintenance and noise.
The rotation speed of the air lock and rotor extractor can be automatically adjusted to the quantity of incoming oilseeds to ensure a constant bin level. This will help
generate pressure in the oil seed extractor and prevent solvent from escaping.
Improved miscella circulation reduces solvent consumption and subsequent residues in the meal, increasing the miscella concentration. Energy is saved by
reducing the quantity evaporated.
The rotocel extractor is very popular for many kinds of pre-pressed cake. Cells at the higher bin levels make it easy to perform immersion extraction and reduce
meal fines in the miscella. All this will help improve the quality of the crude oil and reduce scaling in the evaporation system.
Expanded oil materials and pre-pressed cakes with 25 to 35 percent oil content can be extracted to a level of oil residue of less than 1 percent.
This model is comprised of pre-extraction, extraction, and draining sections. The miscella is rotated to ensure thorough, uniform extraction. Individual-cell spraying mechanisms
further ensure optimal extraction.
The loop-type extractor adopts a chain-drive system. Like the rotocel extractor, its structure is designed to reduce power consumption, maintenance requirements and noise.
However, this extractor utilizes percolation-style filtration. Rotation occurs at the bend of the machinery for efficient processing.
Desolventizer Toaster
Desolventizer toaster dryer cooler (DTDC) is used to separate solvent from wet meal in the solvent extraction plant. KMEC's desolventizer toaster dryer coolers have five
layers. The first and second are preheating layers which function using an indirect current of steam at the base. The third layer is pre-desolventizing layer which leads to the
fourth, main pre-desolventizing layer. The last layer dries the material.
Solvent Evaporator
The solvent evaporator removes solvent from the miscella after extraction has taken place.
Stainless Steel multi-tube condensers have allowed higher rates of solvent recovery and a reduced workspace, lowering production costs and the initial
investment.
The vapor contactor has reduced the load on the DT condenser and increased the temperature of the solvent.
The boiler tank minimizes the solvent residue in the waste water.
Oil Stripper
KMEC's new oil stripper combines the functions of the stripper and crude oil tank for the solvent extraction plant. The unique spherical baffle plate allows the oil to flow
uniformly. Steam is able to thoroughly penetrate the oil via direct contact. Vapor is applied consistently to avoid patches of residual solvent and volitility is reduced considerably.
The trays of the stripping tower are connected by flanges, thus both maintenance and cleaning are convenient. KMEC's design allows for convenient operation and reliability.
With over ten years' experience in supplying and exporting complete oil mill plants, solvent extraction plants and related equipment, KMEC is your source for solvent
extraction machinery such as oil strippers, desolventizer toasters and other extraction machinery.
Oil Stripper
Oil Tank
The oil tank is used for storage in the solvent extraction plant. There are two basic types of oil tanks: the crude tank and the product tank. The crude tank moves large
quantities of unrefined crude oil from its point of extraction to refineries. The product tank is generally much smaller and is designed to move edible oil from refineries to
points near markets.
Typically the type of oil tank is selected based upon capacity and the vapor pressure of the product being stored. The working pressure required depends upon the vapor
pressure, and the temperature variations of the liquid's surface.
The solvent extraction plant is designed to extract oil directly from oilseeds containing less than 20 percent oil after flaking, such as soybeans. The process is also used
for prepressed or fully pressed cake derived from oilseeds containing more than 20 percent oil to include sunflower seeds, peanuts, cotton seeds, palm kernels, canola,
copra, castor and others. Extraction is conducted on prepared seeds or, in the case of high oil content seeds, the cakes obtained through pre-pressing.
Oil Neutralization
Oil neutralization is another step in the edible oil refining process. Oil neutralization is also known as deacidification. It neutralizes fatty free acids in the oil using caustic
soda, thereby converting the acids into soaps. These soaps are easily removed by decantation or by centrifugal force. Since there are many kinds of oilseeds with differing
qualities, KMEC's machinery is equipped with versatile technology for the oil neutralization process.
Oil Bleaching
Oil bleaching is carried out before deodorization in an edible oil refinery. The process removes color, as well as residual phosphatides, metals and soaps. To do this, clay is
added to the oil then heated, upon which it absorbs pigmentation. Lastly, the oil-clay mixture is filtered and the spent cake is dried to remove the oil.
The clay's dosage is dispensed automatically according to the color requirement. A continuous process ensures the clay's even contact with the oil.
Bleached oil is flushed through closed stainless steel filtration discs for less residue in the meal.
The filter is controlled automatically to simplify operation and to ensure stable production.
Oil Dewaxing
Oil dewaxing, also called winterization, is typically used at corn and sunflower-processing vegetable oil refineries. It improves the oil's clarity and brightness by removing
solidssaturated glycerides or waxesthat are visible at ambient or low temperatures. KMEC's oil dewaxing machinery reduces the content of these solids to less than 10
parts per million, a level necessary for proper stability.
Oil Deodorization
Oil deodorization is the final stage in an edible oil refinery. It creates a more bland oil by removing odiferous material and other minor undesired particles, in turn increasing its
shelf life. It is commonly used in the process of refining palm oil.
Palm oils consist mainly of glycerides and, like other oils in their crude form, small and variable portions of non-glyceride components as well. In order to render the oils to an
edible form, some of these non-glycerides need to be either removed or reduced to acceptable levels. The aim of refining is therefore to convert the crude oil to quality edible oil
by removing objectionable impurities to the desired levels in the most efficient manner. This also means that, where possible, losses in the desirable component are kept
minimal.
The palm oil refining process is quite identical. There are two routes are taken to process crude oil into refined oil; which are chemical (basic) refining and physical refining. The
methods differ basically in the way the fatty acids are removed from the oil. Physical refining, which eliminates the need for an effluent plant for the soap stock, involves
subjecting the oil to steam distillation under higher temperature and vacuum for removal of the free fatty acids. The physical refining is used to remove the free fatty acids. The
refining of physical plant is practiced to subject the oil to steam distillation.
