Welcome to SME6054
The focus of this course is on the use and the integration of information and communication technology (ICT)
in mathematics classrooms to explore mathematical concepts, test conjectures, solve mathematical
problems and organize pedagogical demonstration. In addition to critically examining why, what, when and
how ICT can be used in mathematics classroom, the course seeks to deepen students understanding of
mathematical concepts and processes through the use of ICT .
My responsibilities:
It is my responsibility to provide a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere that is conducive to an active
participation from you as the learner and teacher during the course. We work within the constructivist
framework; hence my role is to facilitate you in the learning process and you, the learner, as an active
participant. I aim to create a condition where we all grow professionally share lessons, ideas, and provide
critical feedback in order for us to develop our skill and enhance the quality of our teaching.
Your responsibilities:
To be successful in this course you must attend all classes on time and contribute as much as possible at
each class meeting. If you cannot attend a particular class session due to a legitimate reason (illness,
accident, death in the family, etc) submit an appropriate letter (medical cert, etc). You need to keep up with
the assigned readings, and all written assignments must be completed on time. REMEMBER, 100% of the
course grade comes from the assignments and hence you are advised to start early and not wait until the
last minute to work on your assignments. Failure to observe this rule will cause much stress on your mental
and physical well being. There will be many times when you will be asked to work with a partner or in a
group; please be responsible be a resource/asset, not a liability!

a) Gunakan enjin pencarian untuk mendapatkan maklumat
tentang satu daripada teori pembelajaran yang
menekankan teknologi dalam pengajaran dan
pembelajaran matematik. Nyatakan prinsip dan teoris
utama yang dikaitkan dengan teori tersebut.
b) Gunakan maklumat ini untuk membina sebuah model
pengajaran dan pembelajaran matematik yang
mengintegrasikan teknologi berasaskan teori pembelajaran
yang dipilih.
c) Lukiskan sebuah gambar rajah untuk menggambarkan
secara visual model pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang
dibina.
d) Terangkan model yang dibina ini.

1. Download the Mathematics/Additional Mathematics
Curriculum Specification for form 4, 5 and 6 from the
internet (KPM websites)
2. For each given topic (given in the class), create a teaching
material for that topic (appropriate learning outcomes for
about 60 minutes T&L activities) using graphing calculator.
3. You may attach any materials related to the T& L activities
that you have created.

1. Download the Mathematics/Additional Mathematics
Curriculum Specification for form 4, 5 and Matriculation
Mathematics Curriculum Specification from the internet
(KPM websites)
2. For each given topic (given in the class), create a teaching
material for that topic (appropriate learning outcomes for
about 60 minutes T&L activities) using GSP or GG.
3. You may attach any materials related to the T& L activities
that you have created.

School-Based Research (Integrating ICT in T & L)


a) Carry out a lesson based on teaching materials that you
have created in Assignment 2 or 3 in your chosen school.
b) Video record the lesson.
c) Interview at least 5 students in that class related to the
teaching and learning activity that you have implemented.
d) Submit this school-based research report. The report
should consists of:
i.
CD video of the lesson
ii. Findings from the interview
iii. Reflection on the lesson (advantages, disadvantages,
obstacles before/during/after the lesson, future actions
to improve the lesson)

Keep all of your materials notes, journals, handouts, etc. organized and with you in class. You would also
need standard form 4 to form 6 textbooks for reference and of course, all the curriculum
