quality assurance in Oil & Gas, Heavy Structural Fabrication protective coating, tanks & Vessels ,
under ground & above ground Pipeline with a wide knowledge and implications in
painting/coating application inspection.
Experience in coating operations, quality management & safety. Painting and coating
applications using conventional and airless spray equipment. Auditing of contractor for material,
personal, equipment before the commencement of the job and capability of establishing new
painting procedures.
Carrying out surveys for the integrity of Protective coating system. Knowledge of different types
of equipment that are used in blasting & familiar with polyethylene, polypropylene, fusion
bonded epoxy and heat shrink sleeves, liquid coating, coal tar based tape coating, and concrete
weight coating application.
Maintaining the documentation according to approved procedures, preparing method statement
and inspection test plan according to clients/ consultant specification
Awareness of the QA/QC parameters that are involved in the job such as batch certificates, test
certificates according to the clients / consultants specification
Have acquired thorough knowledge in codes & standards for painting/coating industry such as
SSPC, BS, ISO and ASTM.

INSPECTION:
1. Inspection of Paint Stores at site to ensure that it is in line with the recommendation of Paint

Manufacturer.
2. Inspection of QC instruments to ensure that those are in good working conditions.
3. Verifying calibration status of MMDs (Measuring & Monitoring Devices) pertaining to
Painting, Coating & Insulation works.
3. Inspection of Blast Abrasive to ensure that it is specified/approved material.
4. Inspection of Paint materials to ensure that those are specified/approved materials.
5. Inspection of work site to ensure that it is suitable for paint work.

6. Inspection of the surface to be coated/painted before and after surface preparation.

7. Inspection of Production date, Expiry date & shelf life of coating materials before use.
8. Inspection of the surface during and after paint application to ensure that the applied paint is
free of all coating defects.(Blistering, Blushing, Crate ring, De-lamination, Dry spray, Fish eyes,
Misses /skips, Mud cracking, Orange peel, Runs, Sags, Wrinkling).
TESTS:
1. Blotter test.
2. Nozzle Capacity/pressure of air test.
3. Abrasive soluble contamination test.
4. Measure Climatic/Environmental conditions such as surface temperature, Relative humidity &
Dew point.
5. Roughness of steel after it has been blast cleaned in accordance with current Standards.
6. Measure the wet and dry film thickness of paint.
7. Discontinuities test (holidays, pinholes) in paint. Adhesion test of paints.
8. Barcol/Pencil hardness test of coating. Conduct all destructive & non-destructive tests as per
Specification.
REPORTS:
1. Surface preparation such as Method of preparation, Standards, Abrasive used Cleanness,
Roughness and Climatic conditions.
2. Coating such as Method of coating, Paint system, Number of coats, Weather condition,
Air temperature, Maximum relative humidity, Steel temperature, Dew point, Paint
Specification, Paint Manufacturer, Batch number, Production date, Expire date/ Shelf life,
Required DFT in microns, Measured WFT in microns, Measured DFT in microns.
3. Details of Q/C Instruments used such as Hygrometer, Steel temperature gauge, Profile gauge,
DFT Gauge Holiday detector. Details of Inspected Item. Condition of Inspected item/Details
of repair if any.
