STATE OF ALABAMA

VS

HUBBARD, MICHAEL GREGORY

CC

PRO SE MOTION TO BE ALLOWED USE OF LAPTOP COMPUTER

DURING TRIAL PROCEEDINGS
AMENDED IN CORRECTION WILL NOT BE CONNECTED TO
INTERNET WHILE COURT IS IN SESSION
Comes now Rickey Stokes, as an individual media person, and makes
motion to this Honorable Court for himself or his associate to be allowed the use of
a laptop computer for the trial of the State of Alabama verses Michael Gregory
Hubbard.
The undersigned represents to this court the laptop computer will operate
silently and will not take up additional seating space. The laptop will operate on
battery power and will require no cabling.
The undersigned represents to this court there will be no audio or video
recording made of the court proceedings and the laptop will not be connected to
the internet when court is in session. The stated purpose of the use of the laptop
computer is to allow the undersigned or his associate to take notes electronically
through typing rather than having to take shorthand, then spending hours
transcribing these notes into a readable word format.
In todays technology world, the use of the computer is essential in the
undersigneds ability to perform his job. Just as the court system has ended
paperless filings and gone to electronic filing, and the courts use of computers in
the court, the media world has followed the same set of standards. The use of the

laptop computer is essential for a media representative to take notes and produce a
working document.
The case at hand is a case of extreme importance to the citizens of the State
of Alabama. It involves ethic violations in the legislative branch of government of
the State of Alabama, where the Speaker of the House for the State of Alabama has
been charged with 23 criminal ethics violations.
This case has developed, questions have now come forward regarding the
ethics of the executive branch of government in that the Governor of the State of
Alabama has been accused of wrong doings and impeachment procedures have
been initiated against him and members of his staff.
Now in the judicial branch of government the Chief Justice of the Alabama
Supreme Court has been suspended from office for alleged violations of the
Judicial Canon of Ethics.
These three cases have caused the citizens of the State of Alabama to
question the integrity of the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of
Alabama government.
With that in mind, the citizens of the State of Alabama want and deserve
extensive media coverage of the activities and testimony in the courtroom of this
case. For that be achieved, as a media representative, the use of the laptop
computer is vital in accomplishing this task.
A laptop computer will not disturb the court proceedings or interfere with
the court proceedings in any way.

WHEREFORE, the undersigned requests the court grant approval to the

undersigned or his associate to use a laptop computer to assist them in the
performance of their duties, and to assure accurate reporting. The confidence of the
people of the State of Alabama is dependent upon the accuracy of information
being reported in this case and the Citizens of this State deserve the transparency
afforded by allowing the media to present the most accurate and expeditious
reporting possible.
Respectfully submitted as an individual media member, this the 10th day of
May, 2016.
Respectfully,

Rickey Stokes, Pro Se
