new standards in terms of performance.
To achieve these new standards, the function of the
inner construction of the E1 design was optimized
using
a floating central rib
increased load-bearing roller length and
optimized raceway osculation.
X-life quality ensures optimized surfaces and increased accuracy.
When the new types are used in your application this means:

Improved machine availability and new design possibilities due to higher performance (basic
load rating Cdyn: +15%) and optimized for higher speeds (+50%)

60% longer bearing operating life under the same operating conditions

Lower operating costs due to reduced energy consumption

Reliable accommodation of swivel movements: min 0.5

More economical bearing supports due to downsizing while meeting the same performance
requirements

Further significant milestones have been achieved in changing the standard product range to the E1
design and X-life quality:
All spherical roller bearings with an outside diameter up to 460 mm are now available in the
E1 design and in X-life quality.
This means the following seven series can be ordered and supplied with the improved performance
characteristics as standard: 222, 223, 230, 231, 232, 240, 241.
Several designs of spherical roller bearings with outside diameter > 460 mm have already been
converted and are now available:

24064-E1A-MB1
24072-E1A-MB1
24160-E1
Conversion of other designs is being pushed forward. We will regularly inform you of the latest
developments in good time.

As is the case with all FAG spherical roller bearings, these new large-size bearings in X-life
quality are manufactured using through-hardening rolling bearing steels as standard. The
alloy and structure of these steels are optimally adjusted. FAG spherical roller bearings are bainitic
hardened. These processes set themselves apart from other processes due to:
A higher toughness than with martensitic hardening, also compared with the surface layer
with case hardening.
This increases the protection against crack formation, e.g. when fitting conical rings.
Matched, ideal hardness and toughness of the rings and rollers.
This provides favorable wear behavior under difficult operating conditions.
An improved steel purity grade compared with case-hardened rolling bearings.
This provides increased protection against failure and longer operating life.

In addition to radial spherical roller bearings, conversion

of our axial spherical roller bearings to X-life quality is
also being pushed forward. With these X-life activities,
we have successfully further increased the performance
capacity of our axial spherical roller bearings:

Basic dynamic load rating +35%
Limiting speed +50%
Fatigue limit load +70%
Rating life +170%

extended by more than 300 types
The range of FAG Black Series housing units will
be extended as of mid 2012.
This includes both additional housings such as:

Four-hole flange housing (round, with

centering spigot, FC)

Pillow block housing (narrow, PA)

Take-up housing unit (FA)
Take-up housing unit (FB)
Take-up housing unit (T)

and additional inch-size radial insert ball bearings and radial insert ball bearings with adapter
sleeves (UK).
Pillow block housings, four-hole flange housings and two-hole flange housings for shaft diameters of
20 to 60 mm and even some inch sizes are now available.

New FAG LOCKNUT-HOOK-KM0-16 hook

wrench set fits in every toolbox!
Hook wrenches are used to tighten and loosen
locknuts on shafts, adapter sleeves and extraction
sleeves. Our new FAG hook wrench set is
particularly useful for carrying out such tasks. The
ten wrenches can be used for nuts of series KM
ranging from size KM0 to KM16 and other nuts with outside diameters of 16 to 100 mm, which
mean they cover a very wide range of sizes.

A practical roll-up case ensures that the right wrench is

always immediately within reach. This economical set can
be rolled up quickly and easily in the case ensuring it is
small enough to fit in every toolbox.
