Work Experience

October 2005 – present

National Sales Director (Consultant) Nam Hung Long Co., Ltd. HCMC, Vietnam
I am currently working on a short-term consulting basis as National Sales Director for Nam
Hung Long Co., Ltd., the sole distributor of Philips Electronics in Vietnam. My key
responsibilities are to train and raise the level of effectiveness of the sales team, as well as to
redefine our overall business strategy – including such issues as product pricing and
positioning, sales targets and sales policy, development of distribution networks, improving
relationships with key accounts, etc. This is expected to be a three month assignment.

November 2004 – September 2005

Project Manager Navigos Group Vietnam, Ltd. HCMC, Vietnam
As Project Manager for Navigos Group, I was responsible for the design, planning, and
implementation of Vietnam Salary Survey 2005, the largest salary survey ever conducted in
Vietnam. Post-survey sales of salary reports considerably exceeded initial forecasts, and the
project proved to be a powerful tool in raising Navigos Group’s reputation and client base, with
an estimated 70% of new consulting projects being generated directly or indirectly by the
survey. As project manager, I oversaw a team of three professionals and one project assistant.
Our clients included a wide range of multinational corporations, as well as numerous joint-
venture companies and local Vietnamese firms. In addition to managing the salary survey, I was
also in charge of a number of executive recruiting projects for foreign and local businesses.

June 2003 – October 2004

PR / Event Manager German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) Hanoi, Vietnam
As PR / Event Manager for GTZ Vietnam, I was responsible for improving the company’s
public relations efforts in Vietnam. On the macro level, this involved developing a
comprehensive, standardized public relations strategy to apply to some 20 projects in the fields
of economic promotion, public health, and natural resource management. On the micro level, I
worked on site with a diverse GTZ team that included both foreign experts local employees in
guiding the individual PR efforts of each GTZ project in Vietnam. Activities included
strengthening press contacts and increasing press coverage, streamlining publications and Web
presence, as well as organizing press conferences and a variety of PR-related events.
Furthermore, I was responsible for the organisation of GTZ conferences, seminars, workshops,
etc. I managed the website of GTZ in Vietnam, was responsible for coordinating teambuilding
and training activities, and served as the liaison with GTZ headquarters in German on several
key issues.

June 2001 – May 2003

Course Developer Brigham Young University Provo, UT, USA
As Course Developer at Brigham Young University (BYU), I was responsible for designing and
developing the university’s advanced Vietnamese program. Specifically, this 2-year project
involved the creation of a multi-media course in Vietnamese language, culture and history. In
addition, during this time I refined the existing teaching materials for beginning Vietnamese
courses and streamlined the university’s Vietnamese language testing system.

Vietnamese Instructor Brigham Young University Provo, UT, USA
As Vietnamese Instructor at Brigham Young University (BYU), I was responsible for teaching
beginning and advanced Vietnamese language and culture courses. My students, who included
both native Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese, consistently gave my courses excellent ratings. In
connection with my above-mentioned work as Course Developer, these were courses that I
personally designed and developed on contract from the University.

competitive inter-collegiate level for several years at BYU. Though I do not boast the same skill
level in other sporting endeavours, I can also occasionally be found in the weight room, on the
basketball court, and on the track.

Foreign languages and cultures – I thrive on intercultural interactions. I am an avid student of

foreign languages, cultures, and histories, and intend to make this a lifetime pursuit. Few things
are as educational and enjoyable as decisively stepping outside of one’s comfort zone.
