Business Process Explanation

As Is Process General Explanation
Explanation of Proposed Process

Permits in Maintenance represent a regulation or condition that must be observed and

fulfilled when maintenance work is performed (either before starting of the job or at the
completion of the job) on a technical object.
Permits can be assigned to the following objects:

Equipment
Functional locations
Maintenance and service orders

If permits are assigned to Equipment or Functional location master records then they can
be automatically assigned to Maintenance order created for the Equipments or
Functional Locations which have permits assigned in their master records. Otherwise
permit can be assigned manually to Maintenance order by the order processor at the
time of creation, according to the technical requirements of the job.
There are two point of times when permit process can be activated in maintenance order
processing
1. At the time of Order release, if permit condition should be fulfilled before starting
the maintenance job
2. At the time of Order technical completion (TECO), If permit condition should be

When permits are assigned to order, they have to be issued by concerned authority (e.g.,
Safety department or Maint. incharge of the concerned area) after confirming that all the

conditions of permit meet at the job site, otherwise order release or TECO will be
rejected by the system.
When required permit(s) are not issued for the order then system can behave in two
manners depending upon the system configuration:
1) it will give warning message, but you can go ahead with order release or TECO
2) it will give error message, the release and TECO will be rejected by the system
until the issue of required permit(s) in the system.

Maintenance order will not be released hence job can not be started without
issuing of required permit (assigned to order), by the authorized person.
