INTRODUCTION
This work is dedicated directly to the mining sector, students or people interested in the
subject. I will explain the various types of services that can and must have a mining
project open pit or underground.
The work will be focused solely on the theoretical part of the auxiliary services for
mining.
CONTENT
They are the various services required to meet mining exploration targets, preparation,
development, exploitation and processing of mineral products in a deposit.
Auxiliary services also include marketing operations, and the acquisition of inputs.
Protection Services.
Power Supply
Ventilation Service
Water Drainage
Here are some of the most important services that we have in a mining project.
PROTECTION SERVICES
Are the services provided by a group of people belonging to a vigilance company
whose function is to provide protection to the facilities of the mining company, in the
main entrance and inside, in order to identify and provide the Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) visitors and verify the authorization of income.
It aims to ensure the normal development of operations, for which made permanent
rounds inside and outside industrial installations Mining Unit identifying risks to
property, especially in the presence of strangers. This staff has a communication
system, authorization to carry weapons and vehicles available to carry out their work
efficiently.
Observation Post
Safety Inspector
POWER SUPPLY
Are the services required by the mining unit to meet its objectives and covers all types
of energy that make the mining operation , among them can mention the Electric
Power, Compressed Air, Water Power, Wind Energy, Solar Energy, etc.
Electric Power.- Its the energy coming out of a Force House, which may be of thermal
type, hydro or a connection to the power line. This energy is used in the processing
plant, to move feeding equipment, crushing, grinding, magnetic separation of metals,
conveyors, cyclones, electric motors in various applications, such as mine, its main use
that of drilling, hauling, drainage, lifting, lighting, etc.
Electrical Substation
Compressed Air.- It is a type of energy that is mainly used in the drilling , either in
surface mining and underground and is produced by the compressors which transform
mechanical energy into stored potential energy resulting from a high pressure
produced by the compression process, this energy is used in the drilling , in pneumatic
hoppers , which are much needed in underground mines.
Plodder
Drilling.- They are used to build equipment holes in rock or mineral, in order to:
Remove samples, in the case of scanning from surface or placing explosives in the
hole in order to remove the rock or ore by blasting.
Jumbo Drill
VENTILATION SERVICE
There are two types of general ventilation, natural ventilation (wind action) or artificial
ventilation (fans). The auxiliary service refers to the artificial ventilation, which should
be performed in underground workings with a single access or deep.
Artificial ventilation is a process by which is circulated through the interior of the work to
ensure a needed breathable and safe development of the work atmosphere air. To
meet this need must install different types of fans: axial or propeller, or radial or
centrifugal. The choice of fan depends on the type of operation to be performed as they
should grasp the characteristics of each type of fan.
needed.
Dilute and remove the powders in suspension.
Dilute and remove harmful or toxic gases.
Reduce high temperatures.
Axial Fan
Centrifugal Fan
WATER DRAINAGE
To meet the demands of water, mining activity often goes to groundwater. Contrary, due
to excessive groundwater in some mines they go to drain to facilitate the mining,
commonly this is extracted by pumping.
By pumping action and mine dewatering, variations in groundwater levels occur, which
makes it easier to have more efficiency in the mining process, as well pumps in mining
are determined as very important factors and that is why we have to do very detailed
study of them.
Open Pit
Water Pumps
VOCABULARY
productive or useful.
Risks: A source of danger; a possibility of incurring loss or misfortune.
Grinding: Reduce to small pieces or particles by pounding or abrading.
Drilling: Make a hole, especially with a pointed power or hand tool.
Ore: A mineral that contains metal that is valuable enough to be mined.
Hole: An opening into or through something.
Hopper: Funnel-shaped receptacle; contents pass by gravity into a receptacle
below.
Drainage: Emptying something accomplished by allowing liquid to run out of it.
Fan: A device for creating a current of air by movement of a surface or surfaces.
Pump: A mechanical device that moves fluid or gas by pressure or suction.
