8) At this point, you will need to change your IP address of your computer to a static IP address that
matches the first three octets of the nodes you are updating.
9) To change the IP address of your computer, you must have administrative rights.
10) Left click the START button and select Control Panel.
11) Click on Network and Internet
12) Click on Network & Sharing Center.
13) This will show your available connections, e.g. Wireless, Local Area Connection, etc.
14) Select Change adapter settings
15) Double click on Local Area Connection; the Local Area Connection Status box will appear, see
below.
18) Select Use the following IP address this allows you to put in a static IP address for your laptop. The first three
octets of your computer must match the first three octets of the node(s) you are trying to communicate with;
see above listing for the correct facility. You will want to make sure the last octet does no match any of the
nodes you will be communicating with.
19) The subnet mask should be 255.255.255.0. If you click in the subnet box it should add them.
20) Select OK, then Close, then Close again.
21) You can minimize the Active Networks box.
22) You should now verify that your computer is set to the static IP address.
23) Connect a node, to your computer Ethernet connection), and power it up.
24) Open up a DOS screen and type IPconfig at the prompt.
25) The IP address listed for your Local Area Connection should match what you entered.
Wait for the G3 node to reset on its own. Before turning off the power to the node
You may confirm the successful firmware download by verifying the firmware revision
on the G3 web page or through the display.
