Chossudovsky:IthinkNATOhastheabilityofturningtherealitiesupsidedown,because
recentreportsconfirmthatitisnotRussiawhichissupportingtherebelsbutNATOandthe
UnitedStateswhicharesupportingUkrainenotonlywithsocallednonlethalweaponsbutalso
withmilitaryadvisers,trainingandsoon.Moreover,theyarenowprovidingcoresupportnot
onlytothearmedforcesbutalsototheneoNaziNationalGuard.AndtheUSCongresshas
debatedthisissueandtheysaidyes,wewillsupporttheNationalGuardbutwewillnot
supporttheNeoNaziAzovbattalion.
OthercountriessuchasCanadaaresupportingtheAzovbattalion,butIshouldsaythatwhile
theAzovbattalionhasbeenrecognizedasaneoNazientity,theRightSectorNazipartyhasan
oversightandcontrolovertheentireNationalGuard.
Inrecentdevelopments,Ukrainesmilitaryhasbeenbombingcivilianareasincludingschools.
Thereisampleevidencetothateffect,andironicallyNATOisaccusingtheseparatistforcesof
Donbassofkillingtheirownpeople,sotospeak,wheninfactthosestrikeswereperpetrated
bytheUkrainianarmedforces.
PressTV:BasicallyyouaresayingthattheUSandNATOhavesetthegroundstoensurethis

graceperiodthatthereisofrelativecalmineasternUkraineisusedtobasicallyonceagain
increasehostilitiesandensurethatthereisnoseparatistmovementleftwithineastern
Ukraine.However,myquestiontoyouiswhatdoesNATOgetoutofit?
Chossudovsky:Ithinkwehavetolookatthebroadermilitaryagenda,becauseNATOand
whenwesayNATOwearesayingtheUnitedStatestheUnitedStatesandNATOare
involvedinwargamesonRussiasdoorstep.
Theyhaveseveralinitiatives,theyaremovingmilitaryhardwaretoEasternEurope,andthis
servesasanactofprovocationdirectedagainsttheRussianFederation;andtheyaccuseRussia
withoutevidenceofsupportingtherebelswheninfacttheyhavetheirowntroopsrighton
RussiasdoorstepsupportingtheUkrainiangovernment,whichisanillegitimategovernment.
AndIthinkthereisanotherelementwhichhasnotbeenunderstoodorevenreportedinthe
media,isthatthepresidentofUkraine,PresidentPoroshenko,hasmadethestatementanditis
withUkraineConstitutionalCourtthatthecoupdirectedagainsthispredecessorYanukovych
wasanillegalactratherthanatransitiontowardsdemocracyn.
SowithinUkrainethereisthereisdivisionwithintheleadership.Thecountryisincrisis
situationfollowingtheimpositionoftheIMFsdeadlymicroeconomicreformsandthe
impoverishmentoflargesectorsofthepopulation.Andwithinthearmedforcestherearealso
divisionsandthereisalsoamovementatthegrassrootstorefusetofight,inotherwordsnot
tojointhearmedforces,nottobeinvolvedinacivilwarineasternUkraine.
PressTV:SoifRussiaisthebigenemyhere,whatdoyoumakeofthat?IsRussiaathreatto
theWestmilitarilyorstrategicallyspeaking?
Chossudovsky:IthinkthatRussiaisnotathreatandneitherisChina.TheUnitedStatesis
engagedonaverydangerouspath,becausetheyhaveadoptedthedoctrineofpreemptivewar
andtheyareinfactalsosayingthattheycanusenuclearweaponsagainstRussiaona
preemptivefirststrikebasis.
Nowthattypeofdiscourseisextremelydangerous,becauseitcouldigniteaWorldWarIII
scenario.
Firstofall,theysaythatthenewgenerationofnuclearweapons,namelythetacticalnuclear
weapons,areharmlesstociviliansandcanbeusedagainstnonnuclearstates;thisisan
outrightlie.
AndnowtheythattheyarethreateningRussiawithnuclearweapons,andthisisveryclear,
thenuclearoptionhasbeendebatedintheUSCongress.
Weareataverydangerouscrossroadsinourhistorytheunthinkable:apossibleWorldWar
IIIscenario.
Andthisisnolongerattheabstractlevel,ithasbeenenvisagedbydecisionmakersinthe
PentagonanditcouldunleashWorldWarIII.

profitdrivenmilitaryagendadestroyshumanvaluesandtransformspeopleintounconscious
zombies.
