WELCOME!

Welcome to the 2010 Restore Conference: A Quest for More. We are glad you are taking
advantage of this tremendous opportunity. Convinced of these biblical truths, we believe
as we learn to “seek first his kingdom,” we will experience the fullness of life for which we
were created.
We are excited to welcome Dr. Paul Tripp as our keynote teacher. As Dr. Tripp teaches
from the Scriptures over the next two days, there exists great potential for God to move
within our hearts and bear much fruit in our lives. Imagine what lasting effects there may
be in our community as hundreds of us increasingly find our life in God’s kingdom and not
in our own kingdoms.
We are grateful for the unique opportunity to partner together across denominations as
members of the universal Church. We do not do so to say that doctrine does not matter
– but quite the opposite. We do so to demonstrate the vital unity we have around the
foundational truths of our faith – the sufficiency of the Scriptures and the centrality of the
substitutionary work of Jesus.

If you should have any needs during the conference, volunteers are stationed around the
facility and are glad to serve you. We invite you to take time to browse some of the resources
available for you in the conference bookstore. Also, to help you continue in what you learn
from this conference, check out the “Taking it Home” portion of this conference program.
There you will find some questions to help your family or small group pursue continued
application of the truths you are learning this weekend.
The pastors of both Clemson Presbyterian and Crosspoint are available if you would like
prayer or would like to talk more about how you can live for God’s kingdom.
Thank you for being here. May God cause us to increasingly live for His kingdom.

Paul Tripp is the president of Paul Tripp Ministries, a nonprofit organization, which leads
Paul to weekly speaking engagements around the world. Paul is also on the pastoral staff
at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA where he preaches on Sunday evenings
and leads the Ministry to Center City. Paul is also Professor of Pastoral Life and Care at
Redeemer Seminary in Dallas, TX, Director of the Center for Pastoral Life and Care in
Fort Worth, TX, and has taught at respected institutions worldwide. As an author, Paul has
written ten books on Christian Living that are read and distributed internationally. He has
been married for many years to Luella and they have four grown children.

You live in a fallen world. The temptation is everywhere. It’s hard not to love the world
and the things that are in the world. It’s hard to love an invisible God more than the
visible things that surround you. It’s hard not to offer God a few pieces of your life while
retaining most of it for yourself. It’s hard not to reduce your walk with God down to a
formal, external religion that lays no claim to the interior on your life. It’s hard to grasp
that you actually have to die before you can live. It’s hard to grasp that your life is no
longer your own. - Paul Tripp

2. What causes people to live for their own kingdoms?
3. What is transcendence? Why do we desire transcendence?
4. What four transcendent glories have our lives been created to focus on?
Which of the four do you participate in the most? The least?
5. Satan offered Eve an opportunity at transcendence. What was wrong in this?
How does Satan present us all with less in ways that appear to be more?
6. Share about a time you have treated a minor thing of life as a major thing?
What was the pseudo-glory you were tempted by?
7. Read Luke 22:24-30 and John 13:12-17.
What is Jesus teaching us about living for his kingdom?
8. According to Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6:19-34 . . .
Why shouldn’t we store up treasures on earth?
Why shouldn’t we worry about our life?
What characterizes “little kingdom living?”

building God’s kingdom?
9. How can having Christ at the center keep you from living for him out of duty?
How can having Christ at the center affect the way you make decisions?
10. In what areas do you continue to fight for self-rule?
