To whom it may concern,

It has been determined that the Millennium II Oxygen sensors, model numbers ST340 and
ST341, when connected to a Millennium II transmitter may exhibit a phenomenon where the
analog output may spike to 20mA or the alarm relay output will turn to an alarm state
intermittently throughout the day.

Background
The Millennium II (M21, M22, and M2B models) series of transmitters, when connected to the
ST340 and ST341 Oxygen sensors may exhibit a current output spike for no more than 200
milliseconds at intermittent times throughout a 24 hour period. If relays are utilized on the
transmitter, the relay output will also change from its normal operating state to its alarm state for
a brief period. If the relays are set for latching, the relay will stay in its alarm state until the
transmitter is manually reset either though the main display or via the manual reset input on the
transmitter.
Oxygen sensors are typically used to measure oxygen deficiency. In these cases, the normal
output of the sensor at 20.9% O2 will be 17.4mA and the alarm point will be set between 18%
(15.5mA) and 20% (16.8mA).

Solution
Analog output - When using the sensor to measure oxygen deficiency, and the alarm levels
are set between 18% and 20%, the 20mA spike should not affect the overall operation of the
system and provide nuisance alarms because the 20mA alarm level is not typically monitored.
If measuring oxygen enrichment, in most cases, a de-bounce timer can be setup in the control
system that will ride through this spike, thus avoiding any alarm conditions.
Relay outputs - If using the relay output when measuring either oxygen deficiency or
enrichment a de-bounce timer will need to be setup in the system. The relay option is not
recommended to be used if the relays are programmed for latching. If the alarm relay is
programmed for latching, then the alarm relay will consistently stay in its alarm state and
multiple visits to the sensor will have to be made in order to reset the alarm.
A firmware update has been completed, however, due to certifications on these products it will
be a number of weeks before the updated firmware can be released. Each user will have to
evaluate the information provided here and determine whether or not the operation of these
sensors is acceptable for their specific installation.
Once the firmware update has been released to the market, Net Safety will provide an update to
the product if so desired by the user. If this is the case, please contact Net Safety via the
