NEW HELPER FOR GOD'S WORK IN GERMANY

with Alva and Janice Phi l l ips in the Black Forest area. Many have asked, "Why

do you want to go to Germany?" l answer, "Because I was presented with a need

that 1 feel I can help to fi l l by using a few talents that the Lord has given me.
There are so many who have never heard the wonderful story of God's love for
them. After all he has done for me, it's the least I can do." My first teachers were
my wonderful parents, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Dayhoff of Worthington, Indiana, who
have guided me through l ife. Then there were the ministers and teachers who

taught me more ful ly in the way of the Lord. And it was with the help of many that
I was able to attend Lincoln Christian Col lege to prepare for Christian service
and graduate in May 1969.

Because of a suggestion made by a friend, I inquired about a job at Mission

Services, then located in Joliet, Illinois. So three days after graduation from col-

Through my association with many wonderful Christian people I have grown stronger in my Christian

been well done and has always accepted assigned task with a mature Christian spirit. I recommend her

Glimpse Of Spiritual Light Breaking Through


God's transforming power is reaching the hearts
of the German people. For about eight years now, we
(the Phi l l ips fami ly) have Ire'en laboring for out

groups. Some had been taught in their homes and a

As these souls accept Christ and others begin
to see the need, we are made more aware than ever

that time were almost fruitless. However, this year


God has begun to let us have a gl impse of the
spiritual l ight breaking through in the souls of men.
Why? Because of your faithful prayers on our behalf.
Since July, we know of ten souls that were

immersed into Christ, through the efforts of Brother


Rick Deighton, Brother David Stitt of Basel,
Switzerland, and Alva Phi ll ips. Some of diose who

begging for someone to come and help get regular

The Lord has truly blessed the meager efforts


of a few laborers in the Black Forest area of West

Germany in such a tremendous way that today there


.are five immediate areas asking for help and leader
ship in getting a congregation started. The Lord
has also placed the need of more workers before
the spiritual eyes of those seeking a real chal lenge
for Christ. Praises be to God, more laborers are
responding to the call of harvesting souls. This
wil l introduce you to the co-laborers in the Stutt

Bi l l Rosnett served the Lord for three months

,during the summer of 1971, with the Black Forest


Christian Mission. His labors were above reproach

and the German people fell in love with him right


away. It was extremely hard for Bi ll to return to
the States at the end of the summer because of his

love for the German people - and for LeIa. He

returned

Miss Betty Welliver arrived in August, 1970, to
labor for her Lord in the area of translating. She

class in the Children Bible Hour and prepared the

wrote the thirteen Primary lessons in the new series
"Togliche Eriebnisse mit Gott." She has worked
with the mission for over two years. She graduated
from Ozark Bible College. Betty met a young man

at the Mid-Winter Rally, December 29 - January 1,


1972, who very soon changed Betty's future. Lloyd
Thomas was that tall gentleman, who served Uncle
Sam in the U.S. Army unti l the first part of July.
He then got a European out and joined the work in
the Black Forest area. Betty and Lloyd were mar
ried on July 22 in Viahingen, Stuttgart, West Ger

many. They are presently in charge of the Junior


Youth Group, during which time Lloyd is bettering
his German. Their support is sent to: Helen Oder,

Rick and Delia Deighton, along with their two


children, Sandy and Randy, arrived in Germany
towards the end of September, 1970. Their talents
have been a real asset to the Lord's work there.
Delia loves to draw and does a lot of the needed
art work for the chi ldren's workbooks. She also

willing, they will be able to teach in the German
schools come September, 1973. This will give
them a tremendous opportunity to witness to many
teenagers through their daily example and to invite
them to participate in the youth activities of the

of these talents and blended them together in order

both took language study at Ozark Bible College

John and Nancy Montgomery arrived in the
Black Forest area in August, 1972 just a little over

one week before the Phi l l ips fami ly left for the
States. They took over the Phil l ipses apartment,
which was a real blessing to both fami lies. John

at Pacific Christian College in Long Beach, Cali

fornia. During the past several summers it has been


my privilege to teach Bible classes in the Christian
Service camp at Lugano, Switzerland. After the

camp I have visited the Phi l l ips family and their


co-workers in Gechingen, Kreis Calw, West Germany.
To know Alva and Janice Phi llips is to love

them. They follow the example of Jesus in that they


go about doing good. They are always ready to
help a person, no matter how much time or energy
it may require. They are given to hospitality. During
the past few days there have been so many guests

As we talked to the personnel of the French


Shipping Lines we learned they now charge for
excess baggage. Our hearts began to sink as they

has three apartments, two of which we will be able
to rent. We will be living in the upstairs one

my work here will be much like what I have been
