C. Motivation
In the middle of nowhere
The teacher will divide the class into 4 groups. Each group will be given 3 minutes to
think and prepare for their assigned task.
The teacher will give the instructions to their tasks.
Suppose your group were trap in the middle of nowhere and your group have only
one object to use to survive. Think of 5 scenarios or possible situation that your group
will do in order to survive in that place.

The teacher will ask one representative from each group to pick one object in a box
which theyll need to use in order to survive.
Group 1 Rope: middle of the ocean
Group 2 (wala pa po): middle of the dessert
Group 3 Flashlight: middle of the wild forest
Group 4 Knife: Ice world (Alaska)
To make it easier, the will ask the students to use the sequencers such as:
- First, we should.
- Next, we should.
- After that, we need
- Then
- Finally/Hopefully

Lesson Proper
A. Unlocking of difficulties
Matching type (Pass the ball)

Fur : a hairy coat of an animal used for clothing


Stream : a natural flow of water that is smaller than a river
Branches : a part of tree that grows out from the trunk
Steel : a strong, hard metal made of iron and carbon
Trail : a route or path that someone follows to go somewhere or achieve
something
Blazing : an intensely burning fire
Tremendous : very large or great

The teacher will ask the students to pass the ball while the music is playing
and once the music stops the student who is holding the ball will be the one to
match the word and the meaning in the board.
B. Discussion
The teacher will give the class 5 minutes to read the story To Build a Fire by
Jack London.
After reading the selection the teacher will ask questions about the story.
The teacher will ask the students until they lead on the main topic which the 4
Types of Conflict.
The teacher will then present the 4 types of conflict.
The teacher will ask the students to give their own definition of their previous
knowledge about the topic.
The teacher will also ask the students to give and cite more examples of the
type of conflict.

After that, the teacher will let the students to relate the two types of Conflict
which is Man vs. Nature and Man vs. Himself in the story that they have read.
C. Group Activity
Using the same groups, the class will be given different tasks to
present. The teacher will give each group 3 minutes to work with their groups
and 2 minutes to present in class what they have done.
Using the 4 types of Conflict and scenarios from the story each group will be
ask by the teacher to have a:
Group 1 make a poster showing Man vs. Nature
Group 2 create a short skit about Man vs. Himself
Group 3 compose a song about Man vs. Society
Group 4 interpret through dance using Man vs. Man

D. Assignment
Advice: write a short story
In the story To Build a Fire, the man refuse the advice of the Old man and it
cost him his life.
Has there ever been a time in your life when you did not listen to the advice
or warning from an older person and resulted into a problem.

What did they warn you about or what advice did they gave you?
Try to remember the word that were actually used and try to recreate the
conflict, using conflict ideas that we tackled.
What happened to you to make you realized that they were right?
