Introduction :

Meaning of open source

open source refers to a program in which the source code is available to the general public for use and/or
modification from its original design free of charge.

Meaning of hardware
Computer hardware is the collection of physical elements that constitutes a computer system. Computer hardware is
the physical parts or components of a computer, such as the monitor, mouse, keyboard, computer data storage, hard
disk drive (HDD), graphic cards, sound cards, memory (RAM), motherboard, and so on, all of which are tangible
physical objects.

Meaning of software
Computer software also called a program or simply software is a series of instructions that directs a computer to
perform specific tasks or operations. Computer software consists of computer programs, libraries and related nonexecutable data (such as online documentation or digital media). Computer software is intangible, contrasted with
computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers.

1.2Examples of open source OS

1. Name of the open source OS:

Linux

Explanation
Linux is software that sits underneath all of
the other software on a computer, receiving
requests from those programs and relaying
these requests to the computers hardware.

2. Name of the open source OS:

Android

Explanation
Android is a mobile operating system (OS)
currently developed by Google, based on
the Linux kernel and designed primarily for
touchscreen mobile devices such as
smartphones and tablets. Android's user
interface is mainly based on direct
manipulation, using touch gestures that
loosely correspond to real-world actions,
such as swiping, tapping and pinching, to
manipulate on-screen objects, along with a
virtual keyboard for text input. In addition
to touchscreen devices, Google has further
developed Android TV for televisions,
Android Auto for cars, and Android Wear
for wrist watches, each with a specialized
user interface. Variants of Android are also
used on notebooks, game consoles, digital
cameras, and other electronics.

Blender

Explanation:
Blender is a professional free and opensource 3D computer graphics software
product used for creating animated
films, visual effects, art, 3D printed
models, interactive 3D applications and
video games. Blender's features include
3D modeling, UV unwrapping,
texturing, raster graphics editing,
rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke
simulation, particle simulation, soft
body simulation, sculpting, animating,
match moving, camera tracking,
rendering, video editing and
compositing. Alongside the modeling
features it also has an integrated game

5.0Conclusion
The open source movement has grown to become a significant force in today's
computing environment. In some sectors of the software industry, open source
programs have become popular enough to provide real competition to proprietary
alternatives; in others, they have emerged as the dominant standard.
