FORMAT FOR PREPARATION OF FOURTH YEAR B. ARCH THESIS REPORT

1. The arrangement of parts of B. Arch Thesis

The Thesis should be of approximately 80 pages and the sequence should be
arranged and bound as follows:

Should not exceed two pages(Max 500 words) See Appendix 4

2. PAGE DIMENSION AND BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:

2.1 PAGE DIMENSIONS AND MARGIN

The thesis should be prepared on good quality white paper preferably not lower
than 80 gsm. Standard A4 size Landscape (210 mm X 297 mm) paper should be
used for preparing the copies. The final thesis should have the following page
margins:
Top edge

: 1 inch (25 mm)

Left side

: 1 inch (38 mm)

Bottom edge

: 1 inch (25 mm)

Right side

: 1 inch (25 mm)

Drawings shall be printed in Black Ink/Coloured and attached in all copies of the
report.
2.2 TYPE-SETTING, TEXT PROCESSING AND PRINTING
Three copies of the Thesis report shall be printed employing Laserjet or Inkjet
printer. The standard font shall be Arial of 12 pts with 1.5 line spacing unless
specified on few pages. The text must be printed on only one side of each page.

3. PREPARATION FORMAT:
Specific requirements for text presentation is given below.

3.1 Cover Page & Title Page A specimen copy of the Cover page & Title page
of the project report are given in Appendix 1.
There may be a inner cover page bearing very good graphical representation of
the thesis.

3.2 Candidates Declaration & Thesis Certificate The candidates declaration

& Thesis Certificate shall be in double line spacing using Font Arial and Font
Size 12, as per the format in Appendix 2 & Appendix 3
The candidates declaration shall carry the candidates signature along with the
date and year of submission.
The thesis certificate shall carry signature of the Dean, H.O.D., Guide, and the
thesis coordinators and shall be followed by their name, academic designation ,
department and full address of the institution.

3.3 Abstract Abstract should be maximum of two pages or 500 words synopsis
of the project report typed double line spacing, Font Style Arial and Font Size 12.
Appendix 4.

3.4 Table of Contents The table of content shall be in Font Arial and Font Size
12 with One and a half spacing.
A specimen copy of the Table of Contents of the project report is given in
Appendix 5.

3.5 List of Tables The list should use exactly the same captions as they
appear above the tables in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted
for typing the matter under this head. Appendix 6.

3.6 List of Figures The list should use exactly the same captions as they
appear below the figures in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted
for typing the matter under this head. A specimen copy of the same is given in
Appendix 7

3.7 List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclature One and a half

spacing should be adopted or typing the matter under this head. Standard
symbols, abbreviations etc. should be used. A specimen copy of the same is
given in Appendix 8

3.8 Chapters A chapter can be divided into Sections, Sub-sections and Subsub-sections so as to present different concepts separately. Sections and subsections can be numbered using decimal points, e.g., 2.2 for the second Section
in Chapter 2 and 2.3.4. Section numbering should be left justified using large
bold print.
4. TYPING INSTRUCTIONS: The impression on the typed copies should be
black in colour. One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general
text. The general text shall be typed in the Font style Arial and Font size 12.

5. Pagination: The preliminary pages(starting from abstract to List of Symbols,

Abbreviations or Nomenclature) shall be numbered using alpha numeric nos.
The report starting from Chapter 1 shall be numbered starting from page no. 1. .

Also note, a few blank pages should be left at the end of the report for
images of the thesis model ,etc.
