Interior designing

Trends are a manifestation of new enablers unlocking existing human needs

Human needs are constantly changing with time. Interior design ideas are in a state of constant
flux. The demands of new materials and novel forms, along with the rapid pace of technological
innovations and human creativity create interior design trends that are seldom permanent. What
was fresh and inspiring two years back may not necessarily be stylish and interesting today.
What happens today in interior design affects how we will live, work and play tomorrow. But
interior design is not just growing, it is evolving, too.
Global events give rise to global trends. Local cultures are impacted by local events that shape
local trends. Any way one looks at it, trends are fluid in terms of their dynamics and most
certainly affect all kinds of businesses.
From the times of the Rajahs and till today, Indian arts and crafts have embellished plush
luxurious homes around the world. Traditionally, the luxury of a designed space was enjoyed
only by the affluent in India since it was only the rich who could afford to use expensive
materials and hire craftsmen. This is established in the many palatial buildings that India is home
to.
On the other hand, the lower income groups worked with what nature provided and created
wonders in the least available. They created marvellous structures which mark the resourceful
and energy efficient approach of the majority of Indians. Indias rich culture, diversity and
heritage have left us with a wonderful architectural legacy, whether its mud houses in Rajasthan,
sloping roofs in Konkanor the Tanku houses with wind catchers in Khambat.

Over the years, architects took on the responsibility of furnishing a space and designed every
aspect that went to its conception from the furniture to the art work to the tapestries. However,
this level of comfort, amenities and beauty, were restricted to spaces belonging to the rich.
Over the last decade, urban India has grown leaps and bounds, from the failing third world
country it once was. India is now one of the worlds largest democracies and its continuous
growth despite the global meltdown has put money into the hands of the middle class youth who
are now living a lifestyle their parents had only dreamed of. A well planned, professionally
designed space is now well within their grasp and its being reflected in the growing industry of
Interior design.
Today, Interior design in India has come a long way. It has gained autonomy from Architecture
and is not just reduced to decoration and furnishings anymore. Interior Design sees space as a
living environment and is a holistic resolution of the socio-cultural, emotional and resource
conditions of the context it represents. It offers a wider scope for students.
Interior design is a profession for leaders that take it upon themselves to solve design problems
in an environment rather than being a follower that relies on other people to provide solutions.
Only very few people are leaders in the world You may be one of them
Fashion Designing

design to a new level
India has a rich culture and tradition which is reflected in the clothing as well. India is one of the
most diverse countries on Earth with hundreds of cultures, customs and traditions making up our
national melting pot, and this unique blend of cultures is expressed in art, music, literature and
above all else: fashion.

Fashion arguably plays a very important role in all of our lives because it is, whether intended or
not, a means of self-expression.
Fashion, like India itself, has gone through numerous changes in the past few years. As one trend
appears on the catwalk, another is taking the streets by storm, and Indian trends are no different.
As Indians start to embrace western style, garments such as jeans and shorter skirts paired with
more traditional Indian garments are appearing on the countrys streets.

India's recorded history of clothing goes back to the 5th millennium BC in the Indus Valley
Civilization where cotton was spun, woven and dyed. A variety of weaving techniques were
employed in ancient India, many of which survive to the present day.

Western clothing made its foray into the Indian society during the times of the British Raj. Indian
professionals opted to wear western clothing due to its relative comfort or due to regulations set
then. By the turn of the 21st century, both western and Indian clothing had intermingled creating
a unique style of clothing for the typical urban Indian population. Women started wearing more
comfortable clothing and exposure to international fashion led to a fusion of western and Indian
styles of clothing. Following the economic liberalization, more jobs opened up, and created a
demand for fashion designing.

Animation
Animation can explain whatever the mind of man can conceive
Many years ago when I was a youngster, my foremost pastime was to watch cartoon films. I was
overwhelmed by the movement of pictures. I used to imagine there must be somewhere a world
where people with long noses, broad ears and enlarged feet would live, where even animals
talked. There might be millions of children who might have shared my views.
India's film industry has a long history, it is a relatively newcomer to the field of animation.
The first stop-motion film was made by Dadasheb Phalke in the silent era. The first animated
films from India were produced in the 1930s.
India is known as a leader in entertainment arena. It produces more films than Hollywood every
year. Many animation films like Chota Bheem, Shakthiman, Panchtantra episodes etc., have
grossed more revenue at box office than customary films. There are number of TV channels
which run cartoon films 24 hours a day. So Animation has become a promising profession. It is
the demand of hour. Let us hammer the iron while it is hot!
Animation in India is currently riding on two key factors - a large base of highly skilled labour,
and low cost of production.

The animation industry in India will grow at 22 percent every year, according to the latest report
by NASSCOM.
Many big studios and companies like Walt Disney, Paramount, Hallmark, Sony Pictures &
Turner Entertainment which make animated films, TV ads & computer games, are off-shoring
animation content to India. They have recognized that Indians have creative abilities.
