Crime Rate in Davao City

Dont be surprised if you meet someone in this city who tells you that its
safe to walk around here because Davao is much safer than New York.
Unlike in the past when cops were easily terrorized by urban guerrillas or
criminals with impunity, now its the other way around. said by Aurelio A.
Pea in a news report.
Davao city made it to the top ten out of the 349 cities ranked by the website
Numbeo.com as the 9th safest in the world according to data released by
crowd-sourced rating site Numbeo.com and is the countrys most childfriendly based on a government ranking. In its information update of worlds
safest cities, dated April 30, 2015, Numbeo said Davao City has a safety
index of 80.69 or a crime index of 19.31. Walking alone during daylight in
Davao City has a safest index of 93.75 percent while at night was 76.69
percent.
Davao City known as Dakbayan sa Dabaw is a city on Mindanao, Philippines.
As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 1,449,296 people, making it
the fourth-most-populous city in the Philippines and the most populous in
Mindanao. It is the center of Metro Davao, the third most populous
metropolitan area in the Philippines (as of 2010 Census with a population of
2.26 million, after Metro Manila's 11.86 million and Metro Cebu's 2.55
million). Davao City, with a land area of 224,000 hectares (approximately 7.8
times the size of Cebu and three times that of the entire Metro Manila), has a
very low crime rate. A great land mass cannot be considered as a hindrance
to secure the citys perimeter and give the 1.8 million Dabawenyos their
security, said by a columnist in an article.
The stability of peace and order in the city is manifested in the downward
trend of the average monthly crime rate in every 100,000 persons. There is
an interesting story on how Davao City became one of the worlds safest
cities. In 1986, People Power Revolution is when Rodrigo R. Duterte -- the son
of the last governor of then undivided Davao Province who obtained a law
degree from San Beda College in 1972, the same year that he passed the bar
exam -- was appointed officer-in-charge vice mayor.
The Philippines is just catching up with Davao City which seems to be
always leading the way for the rest of the country. President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo commented during the 67th Araw ng Dabaw celebration.
I hold it as an article of faith in government that there can never be
development and progress in any city or province in the country, unless
there is stability, unless there is peace and order. Duterte had this to say in
response for such praise.

Criminals have no place in Davao city except inside the jails, detention cells
and in funeral parlors if these criminals decide to fight against with the
authorities.
Illegal activities, criminals or part of a syndicate that preys on the innocent
people of the city, for as long there is peace and order and the government
officials work hard for the people and by the people then there is
sustainability and the crime rates will be limited and now Davao City is one
of the countrys tourist destination. Today, the trade and commerce center
of Mindanao is Davao City. Davao is also the doorway to East Asian countries
like Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
Some reasons on why the city is such a good place to visit; with its unique
emergency response system, you can call 911 in whatever situation you are.
The city known for its tight security and strict implementation of the law.
Another one; Davao City is one of the most livable cities in Asia. It has a very
low percentage of crime. It is not only typhoon-free but also so far, it has not
visited by a huge typhoon or any great disaster. Nevertheless, one that is
sure: Davao City has very delicious and very cold clean water. It also had this
advance traffic system and CCTV cameras installed in the whole city for
monitoring crime cases and the street is a pedestrian friendly.
One visitor who voted for Davao City as one of the best cities in the country:
(It is because it is) one of the safest cities in the Philippines. The crime rate
is low. Taxi drivers are well monitor by the local government. I noticed when I
was in Davao and hired a taxi from Davao International Airport, one of the
man handed me a paper to write on regarding the behavior of the taxi driver
and the fare he asked. Of course, information where to send is included on
that piece of paper. It is amazing. The taxi drivers could not charge as what
they want.
With such compliments, isnt it great for this city to be retirement place or a
place where we can live the life we wanted? Peaceful and just enough for
living a common life that we dreamed to have. I have lived in Davao City for
almost nineteen years now and all I can say is that I love it here! I believe
that Davao City is the best place to live in the Philippines. And I will never
trade this city to another city in the Philippines.
