AGD or DA?
Far Eastern University-Institute of Technology offers courses that are related to computer and
engineering studies. It offers many kinds of specialization in Information Technology courses, two of them
are Animation and Game Development (BSIT-AGD) and Digital Arts (BSIT-DA) which are both
comparable. BSIT-AGD which focuses on animating and creating games while BSIT-DA focuses on
digitalizing art works. Its hard to decide which to take because of its differences and its similarities. It also
makes the artistic side of us to come out and be shown. Both courses may help you gain knowledge and
skills on the medium you use and will surely enhance your understanding and learning about the things
you want that is related to any of these courses.
BSIT - AGD, which is my course, offers a programming subject which focuses on creating 2D to
3D animations and making it move which can be used in creating games while BSIT DA on the other
hand, focuses on creating artworks using computer and digitalizing it. Both are fund of creating a
character but the difference is that the course I had taken creates a character model and making it move
so that it can be used in games that they are making while BSIT-DA creates a character model and places
it with digitalized environments where it can blend and because of that, these two may have different
career opportunities. Some of the job areas that the course I have can have that BSIT - DA cant are the
game level builder that is used in games and game designer, game graphic artist, game journalist, and
game technology educator which are basically the only thing that my course focuses at. Although BSIT
AGD have career opportunities that BSIT DA cant have, it also have career opportunities that the
course that I am currently taking cant have. Some of those are the multimedia designer or developer,
database administrator, and 2D or 3D designer which BSIT DA mainly focuses at. They may look like
similar courses but they have a lot of differences.
Although they have a lot of differences, they also have many similarities. Taking any of these two
may enhance your visual creativity in virtual media; you can also acquire some skills on interactive media
and your knowledge on the web. Now as what Ive said before, these two have unique career
opportunities but it also have similarities when it comes to job areas which can be taken. Some of the
similarities between the jobs are being a wed designer or developer which these both courses are
capable of doing at, also these two can be a 2 Dimension and 3D animator or illustrator which these two
are also capable of doing at. Other than that, both courses have similarities between their work of art and
some of those and being able to make art that is digitalized either 2D style or 3D style. Both courses are
really comparable because it has similarities that are really confusing if you are to choose which of these
two you will take. It only relies on which kind of thing you are more interested in, whether in digitalizing
arts or making games. Both are a really fun course depending on the person, these two have been
compared a lot.
Now, when it comes to art, these two can show more than meets the eye. When using tradition
arts, these two depends on the person creating the art. Now on the other hand, when it comes to digital

arts, it may change because the medium used and the canvas can enhance simple arts traditionally and
add more style to it and make it digitalized. When creating animations, both of the courses show many
similarities including creating 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional arts. These two also make digitalized
characters either 2D or 3D and the only thing that differentiate these two are the uses of the characters
they make. My course uses created characters as its model for the game that we would make. Art is one
of the only things that these two have in common. The only difference that these two have when it comes
to art is that the art in AGD is used whether as a background, splash art, or character that is needed to be
used in the games that the AGD students are making while the art on DA is used for their own purposes;
for example, the company that the DA graduate needs to make some slogan or poster for the company,
then the art is applied here.
To sum up these courses, each of them has their own uniqueness that is very good and both are
good courses for creative persons. Taking any of these will surely make you enjoy the opportunities that
will come after you had taken what you have decided. These two will train you to achieve your dreams
and bring the artistic and creative side of you that and use it as your investment for the job or work that
you will end up after finishing any of these two courses. Now if you are having a hard time picking whether
what course is good or better for you, I would like to give you some tips. I would suggest that you should
take AGD if you are fund of creating your own games, if you want your created characters animated or if
you want to make levels for the games you want. Some say that these courses are really easy but for me I
think it really needs effort to end up on what you really want. Now I would say that you should take DA if
you are creative in your own way, if you like making animated characters, landscapes or anything you
have in your mind. Either of these two is great courses offered in FEU-TECH where I am currently
studying. Any of these two courses will surely lead you to a great way in life that you will enjoy.
