From the Pastor’s Desk
My Dear People:
Congratulations to Fr. Jim Booth who has
been assigned as pastor of Blessed
Sacrament parish. Father Booth was due a
parish after three years of ordination and with
great service at OLS. He has been incredibly
resigned to any assignment, but certainly
“put in,” as we priests can do, for the parish
of his choice. We are happy for him that his
desire has been fulfilled.
Parishioners have loved his well prepared
sermons, and Chelsea and the youth of the
parish certainly have appreciated his
presence and ever willingness to offer Mass
for them on any occasion.
OLS is a “Eucharist Parish” and we have
multiple Masses on Sundays as well as
during the week: six Sunday liturgies, two
scheduled daily Masses and multiple special
occasion Masses such as funerals,
weddings, school liturgies, Serra Club, and
the list goes on. Fr. Booth has always been
so cooperative for extra Masses, sick calls,
confessions and counseling.
After twenty years as an engineer, Fr. Booth
changed vocations to the Catholic priesthood
and has remained most dedicated to this
special call from Christ. We thank him for his
dedicated service to OLS and will have a
reception scheduled sometime in June since
he is due at Blessed Sacrament on the first
of July.
Our new associate, as of the first of July, will
be Fr. Mike Adams. He has been the
associate at St. Peter’s for a year and a half.
We welcome Fr. Adams, ordained twenty
years, and who has been in a religious order
in Italy (though he is fully American) and was

Vincent Bresowar The ordination was here
at OLS by Bishop Baker on the fifteenth,
yesterday! Vincent grew up at OLS and his
mother, Sylvia, works at the OLS Learning
Center. Vincent is a transitional deacon and
we look forward to his ordination to the
priesthood next year. I remember my
ordination to the transitional deaconate. We
were twenty-three in our class, as vocations
were not in a shortage as they are today. So
today a bishop will ordain a seminarian
individually to the transitional deaconate in
his own parish, while fifty-three years ago the
ordination took place at the seminary and
parents did not even come!
We also congratulate two members of the
sodality who were honored for twenty years
of exceptional service to the sodality, the
parish and to God’s greater family. Suzanne
Bowness and Kitty Masden were honored a
week ago at the joint sodality meeting. Kitty
is retired and living with her daughter in
Mississippi, while Suzanne is good for
another twenty years with the sodality, again
this year accepting another office on the
executive board. Thanks to Gigi Pickard who
has accepted the presidency of the sodality
for the coming year. Also thanks to outgoing
co-presidents, Amy McRae and Angie
Dunston. The members of the sodality have
some difficulty coming to the joint meetings
with Mass at 10:00 because of various
reasons; but when the individual guilds meet,
the numbers are truly great and the different
charitable and apostolic works are most
impressive. Yes, they do more than their
share with the cake booth at the July 4th
Festival.
Thanks again to Father Booth who has
served OLS so well; and we wish him much
success at the Blessed Sacrament.

OLS Annulment Education and Support
would like to invite everyone interested in
learning more about the Declaration of
Nullity, commonly know as Annulments, to
join us Sunday, May 23, at 11:30 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. in Room 102 of the Family Life
Center for Annulment Education. If you are a
divorced Catholic, know a divorced Catholic
or just want to learn more about what the
Church teaches about Annulments, we
encourage you to join us and learn more
about the Declaration of Nullity. Anne Marie
Verchot, RCIA Director at Our Lady of
Sorrows and a Diocesan Trained Advocate
on the Declaration of Nullity, will be leading
the meeting. She will be educating and
assisting persons on the Declaration of
Nullity application process and will be
providing guidance and fielding questions as
the application proceeds through the
process. Catholics who have completed the
process are also encouraged to join us in
support of the applicants. Snacks and drinks

St. Barnabas Catholic Church hosts senior
citizens for Mass, lunch and bingo on the
third Thursday of each month. A team of
parish members provide hospitality, delicious
and nutritious food, games and prizes. Mass
is celebrated by Msgr. Eugene O’Connor at
12:00 noon in the church. Following the
Mass is the luncheon and games are held in
the activity building. The next senior citizen
luncheon is May 20. There is no charge, but
a goodwill offering is accepted. We invite all
seniors this opportunity for prayer, fellowship
and fun. All are welcome so please join us.
