Timeline of CCSS adoption
Interim ASPIRE

Initial Math Consultant Description

Consultant work description
1. Establish baseline and identify curricular needs through program
evaluation.
2. Work with teacher to address the current reality and what they
can adjust at the beginning of the year in terms of curriculum
planning and resources.
3. Math program assistance during the school year. Assistance will
address all grades with a concentration on 4th-8th grades.
4. Data analysis in first year of ASPIRE testing

2015-2016 Consultant Areas of Focus

Summer 2015
worked with administrative staff to evaluate math program
identified areas of concern
established goals for 2015-2016
Fall 2015
half day with 3rd-8th math teachers prior to start of year to align
GAINS benchmarks with current resources
presented to Home and School board

2015-2016 Consultant Areas of Focus

Fall/Winter/Spring
met with teachers once a month to review progress and develop
plans to supplement curriculum with math resources, review
scope and sequence, look for trends in data to assist instruction
analyzed ASPIRE Interim I, II, III data, reviewed with teachers

Math Progression for Next Year

Standard-grade level CCSS
-goal for 8th graders to complete 8th grade CCSS
( Algebra)
Accelerated-grade level CCSS + enrichment
-goal for 8th graders to complete Algebra I
Advanced-CCSS one year ahead
-goal for 8th graders to complete Algebra II

Consultant Suggestions
1. Adopt a CCSS aligned math program K-8
a. using multiple resources this year
b. need anchor text
2. Continue to reassess the number of levels in your math
program
a. grade level teachers teaching accelerated
3. Rebrand your classes-publicize math progression
4. Time over summer to prepare resources for next year

GAINS/CCSS Math Coverage

St Paul of the Cross continues to implement GAINS/CCSS standards
This is the second year of implementation
