The Coming of Age of the 60s Generation in British Politics

“David William Donald Cameron (born 9 October 1966) is the Prime Minister of the United
Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party. (sounds Saturnian)

Cameron studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford, gaining a first class honours
degree. He then joined the Conservative Research Department and became Special Adviser to
Norman Lamont, and then to Michael Howard. He was Director of Corporate Affairs at Carlton
Communications for seven years.

Nicholas William Peter "Nick" Clegg (born 7 January 1967) is the Deputy Prime Minister of
the United Kingdom and leader of the Liberal Democrats. (sounds Uranian)
Clegg's first major elected position was as a MEP for the East Midlands from 1999 to 2004. He
was elected Member of Parliament for Sheffield Hallam in the 2005 general election and became
the Liberal Democrats' Home Affairs spokesperson in 2006. Clegg defeated Chris Huhne in the
party's 2007 leadership election. As well as his parliamentary roles, Clegg has contributed to
many pamphlets and books on political issues.
Clegg was educated at Caldicott School in Buckinghamshire and Westminster School in London,
followed by Robinson College at the University of Cambridge, where he studied Social
Anthropology; he later studied at the University of Minnesota and the College of Europe in
Belgium. He is married to Miriam González Durántez; they have three sons.” Wiki

.Astrologers commonly use the Ingress charts in Mundane Astrology to understand the fate of
nations. The Aries Ingress Chart for London has Saturn in Libra on the Ascendant opposite
Uranus square Pluto…the same three planets that are active in the charts of the two prime
ministers.

Since Libra is about alliance and partnerships…it is not a surprise that Britain has a coalition
government.
Jeff Jawer in his article on Saturn-Pluto (written several months back) gives us the meaning of
Saturn in Libra

http://www.stariq.com/Main/Articles/P0009829.HTM

First, Saturn in Libra’s square to Pluto in Capricorn could produce rising tides of justice and
equality that reform institutions and individuals that abuse power. The might that makes right isn’t
necessarily physical force or money; it’s mind. Saturn in Libra, a combination viewed
favorably in astrological tradition, opens new channels of communication and alliances
that can turn the tides of history away from concentrated centers of authority to
reintroduce dialogue and revivify democratic principles. A slow but steady buildup of
coalitions of unlikely allies can replace fear with effective activism. The necessity (Saturn) of
addressing destructive forces (Pluto) will become clearer. However, instead of freezing with fear
or panicking, slow-moving Saturn in logical Libra is a reminder to stay cool and think our way
through the crises we face

The charts of the newly elected Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister are given
below….along with their composite.

The first thing we notice is that they are both born in the mid-sixties with the same Saturn-
Uranus-Pluto configuration which currently in the sky is defining the zeitgeist of the present times
and aspecting the original position

Bill Herbst writing about this period has said:

“With regard to the Uranus-Pluto cycle, we can think of the 1960s as a garden of new
philosophies and social movements that initially sent up shoots to reach the sun, but then
receded into the background, taking four further decades to root and anchor themselves in
ground that was not particularly fertile (largely because of the cultural, political, and religious
backlash that flared up during this last, dying phase of the Piscean Age).
The 2010s represent the shift from spring to summer in the astrological cycle that defines this
epoch (Uranus-Pluto). The ideas, technologies, and movements that have been quietly rooting in
the background will suddenly burst into visible manifestation again. What was largely emotional in
the ’60s will become tangible and physical in the ’10s. Like young, fragile plants that were
gathering strength, these memes have now absorbed enough nutrients to push upwards and
outwards by building their stalks and leafing
out fully on the way to flower.”

But this leaves us with at least two possible manifestations…if the two prime ministers decide to
respond along lines of the first archetype (Saturn-Pluto) they will face the opposition of those
who resonate to the second (Uranus-Pluto) and vice-versa ..but it is also possible that this
contrast polarizes them. In any case there is no getting away from a big fight.

Saturn was also opposite Pluto in the 1960s configuration. The Saturn-Pluto cycle represents the
galvanic power of human fears, especially fears that emerge from the unconscious concerning
real or imagined external enemies. The major turning points of the cycle—especially the
conjunction and opposition—imply times where the ruling elites (traditional authorities)
manipulate public fears to justify aggressive use of power, usually to make war and repress
dissent (please recall this was used very effectively by the Bush administration during the Saturn-
Pluto opposition of 2001)

When the heady, willful intellect of Uranus fuses with the deep-seated emotional power of Pluto,
the activations of their shared cycle in each quarterly phase change correspond to radical ideas
(either social or technological) that erupt at a mass level to destabilize the collective and explode
us into periods of dynamic, chaotic, and provocative revolution that are both exhilarating and
upsetting. Creation of the new and destruction of the old intertwine. People who resonate to
Uranian or Plutonian archetypes suddenly feel empowered to challenge society. (An example
here is Manmohan Singh as India’s Finance Minister in early 1990s)

The second thing to notice is that their natal Suns are square each other…two parties with
conflicting ideologies! And towards the end of 2010 when transit Saturn conjoins David’s Sun
and squares Nick’s Sun the coalition will be sorely tested.…But we must remember that the
composite Sun represents their common “dharma” and it is at 241 trine the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto
axis…they can put their energies together to resolve the challenges implied in that axis…
interestingly the Sabian symbols once again speak very clearly. In early June a Jupiter-Uranus
conjunction at 1 Aries trines the composite Sun
