Using R.R. Carkhuff's internationally known program, you will practice and develop four basic Core
Dimensions of Helpfulness - empathy, respect, genuineness and concreteness. Using video tapes and small
groups, you will use your work related or personal experiences to practice the Core Dimensions.
You will briefly review the first four Core Dimensions of Helpfulness and progress to the last three
dimensions of the Carkhuff Model. Practice will focus on practicing the second dimension skills and
integrating basic and advanced levels to build counselling skill.
You will be guided through the process of planning, delivering and evaluating one-to-one training for
novice workers. Hands on exercises will help you analyze job tasks, assess the learner, sequence learning,
develop performance checklists and evaluate training.
The Job Finding Club has been helping job seekers find work since 1972. We help each job seeker find a
job of the highest feasible quality within the shortest feasible period of time. Leadership trainees learn how
to supervise, motivate and direct job seekers. Trainees provide facilitation and be evaluated and certified
based on their written and demonstrated skills.
The MBTI instrument helps people communicate and work together more effectively through
understanding individual differences. It is used in business and education for career counselling, team
building, conflict resolution and management development.
Counsellors and employability specialists will learn new methods and ways of helping clients prepare for
behaviour descriptive interviews (hiring workers based upon skills gained from past experience).
SIAST's model of structured on-the-job training will be outlined. The model guides a supervisor or skilled
worker through the process of planning, delivering and evaluating one-to-one training for a novice workers.
Using the Conference board of Canada's Employability Skills Profile, you will discover how to build tow
types of portfolios - the educational prior learning portfolio and a work portfolio.

Disabilities Assessments
We provide managers with a comprehensive overview to the career planning process. After successfully
completing the workshop, managers are able to help employees create appropriate training plans.
