MODELS
1 CHAPTER 1
OCTAVIO BONETT
 At least 60% of the facts that happens in our
world have an explanation, that one has a logic.
We could try to understand that logic making
assumptions, always taking in consideration that
our best case scenario means that we predict the
fact with our assumption, now we call to that 2
explanation, model.
DEFINITION

math, physical or logical

explanation; usually used to
know how a specific fact occurs.
The last expression includes that
the explanation could predict or
control the fact in the best of the
cases.

MODEL: DARCY’S LAW

Darcy's law is a phenomenological derived

constitutive equation that describes the flow of a
fluid through a porous medium.

The law was formulated by Henry Darcy based

on the results of experiments (published 1856) on
the flow of water through beds of sand.

8
LIMITATIONS

• The fluid must be liquid if we do not want to create the

Klikenberg’s effect

•When we use more than one liquid, we must take in

consideration that those ones cannot mix each other, or
one of the fluid with nothing else.

•We must use fluids with low velocity regimens

•When we mean to Darcy’s Law we have to think about

fluids of laminar regimens, NOT TURBULENT
REGIMENS

9
a. Fuid flow without resistance

b. Fluid flow throw a system wtih low

porosity

KLINKENBER’S EFECT: This one happens when the fluid, for

this particular case gas, do not stick to the walls of the system. The
fluid have to be stick if we want to use Darcy explanation. 10
