Scoris Installation

Please find below the minimum requirements for installing the

marking software on PC/ Laptop.

Checking the System Configuration

Can use https://osm.merittrac.com/ehv to check the
configuration on Internet Explorer browser only

If System Configuration doesnt meet, then user can click the link
to download required package

Scoris Application Installation

Right Click on Scoris.exe and click on Install
Step 1: Click on Next

Step 2 : Click on Next

Step 3: Click Close to complete the Installation

Scoris Icon will be in the Desktop

Step 4:
Scoris is successfully installed in the PC/Laptop, Right Click on scoris icon

Enter User id and password and click on OK

Evaluation Etiquettes

The first step in evaluation is to read the Self Learning Material (developed by
the University), which pertain to the questions.
Secondly, evaluate the assignment for its organizational aspects, viz.,
introduction, body or mid part, ending/conclusion.
Thirdly, check the accuracy of information, content density, logical and
critical analysis of concept.
Fourthly, evaluate the clarity in expression and language. While doing these
activities, you may write pedagogically meaningful comments in the margin
of each page of the response. At the end, you may write global comments.
Give Positive Comments wherever possible, which approves of what the
learner has written, and motivates him to perform better. Example- Your
explanation with regard to information processing theory is very good. I
appreciate your diagram number one, you have clearly outlined the points
here; the answer is appropriate and sufficient.
Offer Constructive Suggestions as to how the answer could have been
improved, wherever required, which helps in bringing about purposeful
didactic communication. Example- You could have discussed the factors of
environmental pollution with examples and illustrations; you could have
added a few more lines on .; the explanation for the first point could be
given in .; you could have mentioned two more points relating to .

Global comments are required to enhance the effectiveness of

distance learning. This can include a mention about spelling,
neatness, handwriting, and so on. Please do not forget to explain
and justify the grade you have awarded to the learner. These
explanations will help the learner identify ones weaknesses and
the ways to improve performance.
Please write Negative Comments such as wrong
presentation/interpretation in concepts, facts, explanations,
examples, relevancy of content, etc. with caution, since they do
not indicate what is correct and how to make it complete and
adequate. As an evaluator, you must indicate categorically what
can be added or changed to make the answer
correct/complete/adequate. You may point out weaknesses in an
assignment response, but do not forget to suggest how these
weaknesses may be removed.
You may write as many relevant Personal Comments as
possible, in order to help the distance learner break the isolation.
For example- Your answer is better than other answers I have
gone through till today; I appreciate your style of presentation.
It is something new. No other student has presented the diagram
on information processing theory.

Avoid non-verbal remarks like question marks, underlining,

circling, crossing, which are null comments, and do not convey
any meaning to the learner. Please avoid hollow, misleading and
harmful comments.
Evaluators comments have special significance in the teaching
learning process. These comments could promote the learning of
the students. Feedback in terms of fruitful comments motivates
the distance learner.
Through fruitful comments on assignment response, the academic
counselor/evaluator can eliminate the learners feeling of isolation.
It may also bring him/her closer to the peer group by observing
and comparing the performance with the peers.

General guidelines for evaluation

Evaluation is to be done as per the Scheme of Evaluation (SoE). The SoE provides
suggested value points and not the complete answers. Please ensure that all
students who have written similar answers (in line with SOE) are awarded
approximately same marks.
In case an assignment fully or partly seems to be a copy paste (either from
Internet or from another candidate, but not from the SLM), it can be given
average marks (of the part of total) indicating clearly that the marks have been
allotted for reason of copy-paste. In case the student had copied the answer/s
directly and exactly from SLM (with all the conversational style and first-person
form intact), marks to be reduced and reason to be cited.
Initially do manual evaluation on a separate piece of paper. After ensuring the
rigor, one may resume evaluation using OSM.
Use all annotations liberally such as ---X, tick mark, circle, and comment cloud.
Include marks and comments/feedback (refer to section 1.3) only in the relevant
column and nowhere else. Wherever possible, provide additional information to
student, or give references for further reading.

If the answer sheet is blank, annotate the page with X

annotation and zero marks to be given. Wherever zero has been
awarded for a wrong answer, please mention reason for the same
by inserting a comment.

In case of numerical problems-correct steps to be written on the

answer sheet, wherever the candidate has missed step/s or
committed a mistake please highlight the same and insert a
comment.

If a question has been wrongly framed, give benefit of doubt to

the student and please inform us by raising an exception.

Avoid Central tendency in awarding marks. Please ensure that

marks are awarded for all the questions answered.

Marking Activity Important guidelines

One annotation is necessary on each page (even if it is a

blank page)
Enter marks in the marks panel
If the student had not attempted any question enter NR
( No response) in the marks panel
After completing the marking of the answer script close the
marking window and return to main window.
