REPORT WRITING
Over the next fortnight, all teachers will be very busy analysing the student achievement data
that they have collected during first semester in order to compile their Mid-year reports for
each student.
In determining the grading's that are represented on the reports, teachers
use multiple sets of data, anecdotal notes and ongoing observations etc. to
make their judgements. On the odd occasion, where a definitive assessment
is difficult to ascertain, teachers will collaborate with each other to
determine an individual assessment. Please be assured that this is an
extensive undertaking, so that an accurate, fair and rigorous judgment can be
made
for each child.
In awarding a grading to a student, judgements are made against the expected curriculum
outcomes for each year level as detailed in AusVELS (The Australian Curriculum in Victoria).
AusVELS will be replaced by the Victorian Curriculum-Foundation to Year10.
Schools can choose to use AusVELS or the Victorian Curriculum F10 in 2016.
AusVELS will be archived in December 2016 and all schools will use the Victorian Curriculum in
2017.
It is important to understand that each students results are determined against the
expected outcomes at each year level and NOT comparison rankings against
other students.
As always, if you have any concerns, further information can be obtained
early next term through our Parent/Teacher/Student (P/T/S) conferences.
Your feedback in past years has been to ensure that our reports are easy to
read & interpret, as well as being personalised for each child. To this end, I
can
assure you that each childs achievement comments are completely tailored
and personalised to each child.
If all goes according to plan, Mid-year student reports will be sent home on Thursday 23rd
June. P/T/S conferences will be scheduled early next term to enable you to gain further
insights into your childs achievements.
Most importantly, we hope the Mid-year reports provide a wonderful opportunity for all
families to celebrate the achievements of first semester!
Friday10th June
School staff will spend the day preparing students mid-year reports for Semester One.
MONDAY 13TH June

Book Fair was huge! Thank you for visiting Book Fair during
the week.
I hope you are getting lots of enjoyment from your new
books. It was wonderful to meet so many parents and
grandparents. We sold heaps of books, posters, pencils, pens
and erasers. Many items sold quickly, including the dinosaur puppets,
pointers and phones. When Book fair returns in November hopefully
these items will be in plentiful supply.
