CFE Principal and Chief Executive to leave the end of the

Academic Year.
The Principal and Chief Executive of Guernseys College of Further
Education, Saboohi Famili, has announced that she will be leaving her post
at the end of the academic year.
Ms Famili has been appointed Chief Executive and Principal at Epping
Forest College in UK.
On behalf of the Board and staff, I would like to thank Saboohi for the
hard work she has put in and the leadership she has shown to help
transform not only the College but the relationship with Education
Services through initiatives that modernise post-16 education on-Island,
said Julian Winser, Chair of Board of Governors at the College.
Saboohi has skillfully led the College for the last two years through a
challenging and changing external environment and led the successful
transformation and rejuvenation of the vocational and professional
provision delivered through the College. She has helped us to navigate a
difficult path, and move the College forward during a time where funding
continues to be under considerable pressure. Saboohi has worked
successfully with the board and Education Services to kick start the
College on its journey to excellence, said Mr Winser.
She leaves behind a strong organisation with capable and dedicated staff
who will be able to continue to deliver high quality education and develop
an innovative, fit for purpose post 16 education for our Bailiwick. The
College continues to help support more people to realise their ambitions
and potential in life, learning and work.
The search for a successor will begin shortly and I look forward to
announcing a new CEO in the coming months. Current vice-principal,

Louise Misselke, will head up the College in the interim. Mrs Misselke has
worked shoulder to shoulder with Saboohi over the last two years and is
an experienced and talented senior leader.
Professor Richard Conder, Ex-Deputy Minister of education and also a
former member of the Skills Guernsey Policy group said:
Saboohi has been an outstanding transformational leader of the College
of Further Education. She has worked tirelessly to deliver the States vision
for tertiary education in Guernsey and has brought us to a position where
Guernsey can look forward to providing a coherent, comprehensive and
joined-up skills strategy which will address a large proportion of our post
16 educational needs on-island. Her enthusiasm, commitment and
inspiring leadership will be sorely missed but she will leave a legacy which
will benefit our Island for many years to come. We appreciate all that she
has done during her time in Guernsey and wish her well in all she does in
the future.
Ms Famili said she was sad to be leaving Guernsey and the College after
two years.
I have been proud and privileged to lead the organisation and I am
confident that it is on a secure footing with a strong Board and skilled and
committed staff who will maintain and extend its offer and impact.
My time at the College has seen a lot of change within the organisation
and in conjunction with Education Services the continued transformation
of post-16 vocational and professional learning. I am proud that the
College has a respected and credible voice across all industry and within
the community and this is all down to the hard work of its staff who are
committed to our students success. The College responds to educational
needs of all industry and is increasingly influential in the economic
development, skills and training and workforce planning for the future of
the Bailiwick.
I wish Guernsey, the College of FE, our learners and the community of
Guernsey the very best of luck for the future.
