Roles/Membership of DAC
• District Advisory Board (DAB) representative (recommended by DAB)
• English Language Learners Parent Group representative (recommended by parents in that
group)
• Gifted and Talented Advisory Board representative (recommended by parents in that
group)
• Charter school representative
• At least one teacher employed by the district
• At least one school administrator employed by the district
• At least one person involved in business in the community within district boundaries
• 3 to 4 parent representatives at large
• Other members as defined by SB-09-163 or the BOE
Responsibilities
• Report to the Board of Education:
◊ Recommendations regarding priorities for spending school district monies
◊ Submit recommendations and comments regarding the preparation of the school
district’s performance, improvement, priority improvement, or turnaround
plan
◊ Review new charter school applications and renewals
◊ Annually determine, with the BOE, areas and issues about which the DAC will
study and make recommendations
• Consult with the District Advisory Board (DAB) (made up of School Accountability
Committee (SAC) representatives) about spending priorities, the district performance
plan, and special district issues.

• School Accountability Committee (SAC) representatives from every elementary, middle,
and high school (current model)
• Community representatives, youth representatives and other members as determined by
the DAB

turnaround plans submitted by the SAC’s
