The education system in England is going through rapid and fundamental change. Some
of these changes include a new curriculum and freedoms for individual schools to
design their own assessment systems. Expectations for what children at certain ages
should know and be able to do have also increased significantly.

Best wishes,
Kevin Corteen.

In order to explain these changes in more detail, and in particular Broad Oaks
approach to assessing without levels and how we will report this information to you,
we will be running a series of parental presentations after half term on
Tuesday 14th June.
The presentations will last approximately 45 minutes and begin at 9.00am, 2.30pm and
6.00pm. If you would like to attend, please register at the school office.

It's great to see so many children

taking part in the walking bus.

The Sainsburys Active Kids voucher scheme has now finished. If you have any vouchers,
please send them in to school with your child A.S.A.P.

YEAR 3'S VIKING MORNING

Year 3 enjoyed their Viking morning. They made bread and cooked it over a fire, made necklaces to trade with and took part
in a Viking treasure hunt. All of Year 3 (including the teachers) had a fun-filled morning!

ENCHANTED WOODLAND
Year 1 have enjoyed their first Forest Crew experience with
Mrs McCrory this week. The children had an amazing time exploring
the Enchanted Woodland, helping the fairies, elves, sprites and
gnomes. The bushies and spikies (foxes and hedgehogs) had sadly
destroyed their homes, but the children were delighted to offer a
helping hand and begin building new homes, complete with special
fairy doors, wishing stones, fairy dust and a magic chant.
