CHURCH NAME: CHURCH OF INCLINING BRIDGES

PARTICULARS:
1. ARCHITECTURAL INNOVATION:
Adapting the modern contemporary design, this church is intended to innovate
the roof and the wall inspired from the form of a staircase conceptualized through folding
architecture technique. This aims to strategically play with the roof openings
to achieve a balance of light and air. This innovation bridges the people towards worship.
2. UNIVERSALITY OF THE CHURCH:
The intention for the design is to make it look as if reaching out to God because
we believe that the structure itself will make the viewers look up and remember
that there is a God, that the structure itself does not compromise any religion
through its design making it universal and different from the other churches.
3. KEY ACTIVITIES AND SPACES NEEDED:

REFLECTING: The space required for this is a belfry- symbolizing a call to worship
and a long entrance walkway approaching the door of the church
building. This is induced with rich greeneries and a water feature
intended for personal pondering and preparation before entering.

CLEANSING: As

people enter the building, they will be welcomed with a

baptismal font and seen on the sides are confession rooms.
This area will be separated from the main sanctuary to prevent
too much noise from the people as they enter.

WORSHIPPING: At this stage, the people now enter the sanctuary and are spread
closer to the altar. There will also be a choir area above
accommodating the church's instruments and the singers.

DWELLING: The most important part of the church is the innermost sanctuary
where the altar is. This space is intended for the priest and the
bishops and other involved people during a Holy mass. This space
accommodates the altar, credence table, tabernacle, sacristy,
ambry, bishop and presiders chair.

PARTICULARS:
4. PATRON SAINT:
St. John the Baptist was a Jewish prophet who preached the imminence of God's nal
judgment, had several disciples and baptized a number of people, including Jesus.
This saint is a reection of a church becoming a great prophet in the modern times.
This church aims to prophesy the Holy trinity and the Christian life for the people
who seek the truth.

5. PEOPLE/DEMOGRAPHICS:
The church conceptualized in becoming a "spiritual oasis" to many people who
come in for silent prayers and personal devotion. It serves the deep needs of those
who desire to get away from a busy life. On the other hand, the various parish
liturgical services reect the richness of catholic traditions and its pastoral orientation
caters for all categories of people especially the young and those searching for truth.

6. CARE FOR CHURCH GOERS:

The design creates boundary between the indoors and the outdoors through
integrating lush greeneries and letting in the comforting breezes that add up
to the solemnity, serenity and timelessness of the church. Not only can it provide
a healthy environment but also an inviting feeling. Part of the plan opens up to the
exterior wall that will allow people to hear mass from outside and partly reducing
the echo that builds up inside the church during a mass.

7. REACHING OUT TO NON CHURCH GOERS:

The design reaches out to man and opposes the traditional church designs that
put emphasis on massive and intimidating structure entrances. We imagined a
structure that starts very close to the ground as if reaching out to the people,
luring them to go in. Through envisioning the front part of the church to be
welcoming without the feeling of intimidation, giving a thought of I belong here.

8. ICONOGRAPHY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH:

Despite the adaptation of modern contemporary design, the iconography of this
church is preserved well through emphasis on what really makes it a church. That is,
the cross. Intersecting lines that makes up the cross symbol in the facade stands on
a monumental scale symbolizing the wholeness of Christianity. In Addition, the
churchs roof and walls depict inclining bridges towards true worship.
