Oman Wastewater Legislations, Codes and Standards

The applicable legislation for use of TE for


irrigation
Ministerial Decision 145 / 1993: Regulations for wastewater re-use and
discharge. This Decision specifies the required quality of Treated
Effluent to be re-used for various types of irrigation and others. It also
specifies the required sludge standards.
Royal Decree No. 115/2001: Issuing law on Protection of sources of
potable water from pollution. This Decree specifies the standards for
discharge of non-household liquid waste into sewage system (i.e.
industrial discharge).

The applicable legislation for use of TE for outlet to the sea
Ministerial Decision 159 / 2005: Regulations for the discharge of liquid
effluents to the marine environment.

The applicable legislation for use of TE for recharge of aquifers


There is at present no legislation for TE to be used for recharge of
freshwater aquifers.

The main purposes of the Company are:
Establishment of a network assembly and transportation of the
sewage project for the City of Salalah.
The establishment of any future expansion of this network to cover
the entire city of Salalah.
The establishment of any future expansions in the treatment plant.
Ownership, management and operation and maintenance of the
assembly, transport and treatment plant and the current network of
groundwater recharge, and any future expansions.
