2002 ADThe UN and various western capitalist powers begin planning for project ARES, a research and

terraforming expedition to Mars. They are unchecked in power and authority due to the fall of
Communism in Eastern Europe.
2010 ADThe first series of ARES launches are successful; many of the world's top scholars and technicians are
aboard the stasis ships. The launch is kept quiet from the global community. Though research and
exploration are the stated goals of the project, a few select individuals are charged with building
experimental weapons for the arsenals of the US, UK, and Israel.
2012 ADAfter more than a year of hard work, Hope Colony is established on the Tharsis plateau by the members
of the ARES project. Life is tough, but food production increases as terraforming begins.
2014 ADThe Martian atmosphere has began to stabilize. Temperature and humidity increase as oxygen and
nitrogen are introduced slowly. Dr. Alexander Rice, previously of NASA, leads an expedition to the base
of Mt. Olympus to study Martian geology and instead discovers the scattered, broken ruins of a Mi-Go
city. It is here that the fragments of Kraaz are discovered. This discovery is hidden from the people of
Hope.The Hope Colony is announced to the citizens of Earth with much chagrin after numerous
intelligence leaks.
2015 ADWhile studying artifacts from the archaeological dig, Rice discovers the binary nature of the Mi-Go's
writing and artifacts, including the Kraaz fragments. He begins to develop a computer to decipher them.
Rain falls on the parched red soil of Mars for the first time in millions of years.
2016 ADNitrogen/oxygen atmosphere now stable. As his translation nears completion, Rice discovers the Mi-Go's
role in early human development, as well as their goal of gathering mineral resources from the Sol
system. They built numerous machines on the surface of Mars to make it habitable, including an
immensely powerful device under the north pole of the planet for the purpose of establishing a utopia for
a radical group that did not want to leave after the harvest. Rice goes insane before his work is finished,
and is sent back to Earth and institutionalized.
2017 ADDr. Jennifer Rose, one of Rice's few contemporaries who was aware of his work, takes over and
completes the translation. With information from the Kraaz tablets, she leads an expedition to the northern
pole of Mars and discovers a Mi-Go city beneath the ice. After two months of digging and exploration,
Rose discovers C-7's chamber and is enamored and somewhat mentally stabilized by the entity. She

returns to Hope fueled by the presence of C-7, determined to help it bring about the utopia it was built to
create. Communications between the Hope Colony and Earth are severed. Rice is released from a medical
facility in the US, moderately stable. He moves to Egypt to establish TREX.
2018 ADThe Great Machine (communications relay) is completed on the Tharsis plateau by the humans of Hope
Colony, who are now under the control of C-7. Rose establishes a religion that is an amalgam of science
and spirituality, with herself as high priestess of C-7. As the machine is activated, the Quelling begins on
Earth, crumbling the governments of the United States, Russia, and Western Europe in a matter of hours.
80% of humans become mindless slaves, whilst another 5% of the most brilliant become mad devotees of
C-7. Those not affected are imprisoned or killed when discovered. Only areas of the earth free of modern
technologies and far enough away from affected cultures remain unaffected. Rice's Brotherhood of Christ
gains a significant amount of adherents in the face of the fall of Western Civilization.
The alpha resonance chamber is restored, and the Great Machine begins to feed instructions to the
faithful. Those few that are resistant to the signal begin to acquire strange powers from C-7's music.
2019 ADDr. Rice begins his work on the Morphogenic engine to create non-corporeal human beings to defend
Earth from the second coming of the Mi-Go. He believes this transition will make humans more like the
Christ and able to fend of the fiendish powers he saw in his visions. Rice is not aware of C-7, but knows
the Mi-Go hid a terrible power beneath the surface of Mars, and knows the Quelling is of its doing. They
begin covertly advertising for a new Martian colonization effort, using those who apply as test subjects in
the mutagenic engine.
After killing all test subjects, Rice places himself into the engine and goes terribly insane, manifesting his
energetical self as the Walrider. He slaughters his contemporaries, but is sealed in the lower levels by his
lover, Jasmine Traeger, who is driven insane by his new form. Traeger takes the mindset of Dr. Traeger
though she is a database programmer, and begins her own series of cruel experiments on the remaining
