COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for students who have little or no ability to read or write in
English. Course instruction will introduce students to the English alphabet, words, sight
words, basic grammar structure, and eventually sentences. Students will be taught to
answer simple yes/no and information questions, understand and respond to simple oral
directions, understand basic vocabulary, recognize the value of currency, understand
days, weeks, months; understand warning and emergency signs and use the telephone for
emergencies. Students are introduced to very beginning level grammatical structures.
