DIEGO ALBINO RODRIGUEZ CONTERERAS THE NIGHT COMES TO A CLOSE - LAST CALL

I’m not much of a drinker. Still, when last call comes around, a hazy romance hangs in the air. And that’s when the room starts spinning,...
and you wonder how you’re getting home that night.

LENSBABY BEAUTIFUL BLUR

CONTEST WINNERS
1. CHRIS DRISCOLL HONG KONG FROM SEA
Long exposure of Hong Kong’s skyline at night. Shot from on board USS Chafee DDG-90 during western-pacific deployment 2009.

2. JAYME RUTHERFORD WINTER’S DREAM

Dandelion seeds covered in early morning dew

3. PAVITHRA MEERA RAMASUBRAMANIAN TRACTOR WITH FLOWERS

This shot was taken at a 590 acre flower field this spring in California. I waited for the moment when the tractor lined up at the horizon
while the flowers formed a vanishing point. I wanted to blur it to give the photo movement.

EXPLORING
LIFE’S POETRY
WITH THIS MONTH’S

CLAIRE JEAN
“I am french and have spent half of my life in Brazil. I took
photography as a means of therapy ten years ago and it quickly
became a passion. The spirit of the amateur lives inside me and
I am always driven by my enthusiasm for photography.”

A native of France
residing in Brazil, our
featured photogra-
pher of the month
brings a multicultural
world view to a se-
ries of topics ranging
from portraits to still
life to abstractions.
Her strongest photos,
and self-professed
favorites, depict the
naked form in black
and white. If you visit
her website (www.
clairejean.daportfo-
lio.com) you can see
an entire collections
dedicated to this
subject, one of the
strongest and most
unique galleries fea-
tures models cov-
ered in sea life - that’s
right, people scant-
ily clad in octopi and
conch shells. In this
article we place the
focus on her photo-
graphs that employ
blur, but the rest of
her photos are defi-
nitely worth a look.

“I use my camera as a tool to explore the poetry of life and satisfy my need for creative expres-
sion. As a poetry, a picture has to contain a mood, an idea, a story, a feeling. The Lensbaby, one of
my favorite lenses, allows me to distort reality in a magical way-giving me more flexibility with the
composition. Beauty is everywhere and I am interested in all subjects, although nature is one of my
principal inspirations. My goal is to work with bodies integrated with nature in a perfect symbiosis.”

JAMES L. McCLUSKEY SOLAR HAZE

I took this picture early one morning after

work. I passed by this everyday and could
not help but notice how beautiful it is to
look out over the meadow with the sun
illuminating the fog. It is a real shame
because some construction company came
along and destroyed the scene by build-
ing a cement producer right where I took
the shot. At least I captured the moment
about a year before it was torn up for prog-
ress. That’s an irony, is it not?
