Introduction
Introduction:1) This is the most important session where we acquaint the students about the necessity of
developing certain competencies to become employable.
2) We have to keep the session very informal, interactive, and full of enthusiasm, fun and energy
so that they look forward to attend the soft skill sessions.
3) At the same time, we have to draw their attention towards questions like: What is employability/
job? What does the employer assess? What are competencies? How can competencies be
developed? Etc.
4) As facilitators we have to make them understand that they should start preparing for becoming
employable from now onwards. The students need to understand the expectations of the
employer and the corporate world and accordingly acquire the job competency fit.
Objectives:
1) Create students vision.
2) Make them understand importance of CA and how it can help them achieve their vision.
ROLE PLAY
AIM To prove that different jobs require different competencies carry out this role play.
Ask one student to enact the role of a policeman who is weak, submissive, very soft (just opposite of
what is expected from a policeman). Similarly ask another student to dawn the role of an airhostess
exhibiting qualities which go against the nature of her job for eg. Rude, rough, impolite etc.
Now ask the students whether these people will be successful in their lives? The answer is a blunt
No. The policeman needs to be firm, stern and bold to handle lawbreakers. Whereas an air hostess
needs to be soft, polite and attentive towards the passengers. Hence different competencies are required
for different jobs.
A persons job competency expectation must match with his personal competency profile for a better
performance. Emphasize on the e.g. of the air hostess who along with a trained attendant (professional
competency) also needs to be soft, patient and pleasant (personal competency).
