Certification Organisms

Certification organisms are those private organizations whose function is to


assess conformity and certify compliance with a reference standard, whether
the product, service or management system of an organization. In particular,
they are responsible for the audit of organizations interested in obtaining a
certification of its quality management system according to ISO 9001: 2008, the
environmental management system according to ISO 14001: 2004, etc. These
entities must be independent of the organization they audit, and have not done
other work for her, such as consulting to implement the system certifying.
Certification Bodies are in turn evaluated by national accreditation bodies in
order to have a recognition of its ability to perform its role as a body assessing
conformity. Accreditation bodies are responsible for recognizing the ability to
assess compliance and issue certificates and reports of conformity assessment
bodies: certification bodies, testing laboratories, calibration laboratories,
inspection bodies, etc.

FSSC 22000 is applicable to all food products, food ingredients, and

geographic location of the organization.
