Dear Taxpayers,

In a few days to come the curtain will come down on the 2015/2016
Financial Year.
I am glad to report that because of your efforts and compliance, this
financial year, we will have collected for the Government over UGX
11.3 Trillion Shillings.
At URA we are proud that we have accomplished well the
assignment that was handed to us at the beginning of the financial
year in July 2015. It was not an easy task due to certain
unfavorable conditions prevailing like the depreciation of the
Uganda Shilling, which affected imports and ultimately revenue
collection.
Others were the investor anxiety around the time of elections,
liquidity squeeze and high interest rates that have affected
profitability and consumption as well as suppressed performance in
the formal employment, wholesale and retail sectors.
Nonetheless, working together with you, the revenue collections
have grown by 16% this year and with the revenue collected, we
have managed to fund about 61% of the Government Expenditure
Budget! Certainly, this could not have been done without the
diligence and compliance of you, our clients, the taxpayers; who
complied with their tax payment obligations to the Government.

We have witnessed your support in our sensitization engagements

and revenue mobilization initiatives such as the TREP Campaign,
Diaspora Engagements, the Taxpayer Appreciation Celebration
Omugano gwa URA, the TIN Campaign, the recent Open Minds
Forum and Budget Analysis Breakfast, #MpaReceiptYange
Campaign, stakeholder engagements with business communities in
Lira, Arua, Fortportal; Media Editors, Kampala City Traders
Association and Kwagalana Group, among others. We also
appreciate those of you that hosted us when we visited your
premises on our appreciation, outreach and feedback engagements.
For all this effort towards nation building, URA is grateful and
appreciates every taxpayer.
As the financial year comes to a close, I appeal to all taxpayers with
current and past tax obligations to pay these by 30th June 2016 to
avoid accumulation of interest and penalties as well as the
inconvenience that comes with tax enforcement activities. I urge
especially those that fall within the presumptive category to pay the
flat rates that were designated for them by 30th June 2016. These
include restaurants and bars, clinics and drug shops, salons,
garages (Motor Vehicle repair), general trade shops, carpentry/
metal workshops etc. All landlords with rental tax obligations are
also expected to pay final tax by 30th June 2016.
Please visit your nearest URA office for assistance on how to comply
or call us toll-free on 0800117000. You can also reach us on the
web at https://ura.go.ug or send us an email at
services@ura.go.ug.
I thank my team at URA for delivering excellent revenue services
with purpose and passion. We pledge to all clients that, in the spirit

of continuous improvement, we will serve you with professionalism

and integrity.
We thank you for your Business. Lets continue to Develop Uganda
Together!
