Vendor shall design, fabricate, test & deliver two 12" motor operated coker switch
valves, in accordance with the following requirements:
1.0

SERVICE
Valve will be used in switching hot hydrocarbon fluid (liquid vapor mixture)
from coker heater to a pair of coke drums.

Turning Mechanism

Limitorque L120-80/40 H5BC.

3.1.1

Valve operator shall be a self contained top mounted unit arranged


for mounting on the valve yoke complete with motor, integral
reversing starter, control transformer, handwheel, clutching
mechanism, torque and limit switches as required, conduit box, and
switch compartment all suitable for outdoor installation from 54F
to 113F.

3.1.2

Motor operated valve furnished with SPDT limit switches.

3.1.3

The valve shall be provided with a stop system which will prevent
accidental positioning of the valve in the bypass position.
The
actuator mechanism must be provided with a declutching manual
handwheel override with position indicator.

3.1.4

Motor shall be totally enclosed and suitable for the


classification noted herein.
Vendor shall specify type,
rating, full load and locked rotor current.

3.1.5

Motor shall be equipped with anti-friction bearings, fitted with


grease seals and oil seals to prevent migration of lubricating oil
from the gear reduction housing into the motor.

3.1.6

Motor operator shall have a static torque rating equivalent to at


least four times the required running torque, with operating
differential pressure at the valve.

3.1.7

Operator shall be furnished with local continuous valve position


indication.

3.1.8

Vendor to provide a description indicating the criteria used for


jog testing the actuator for failure and overheating of parts at
an ambient temperature of 113F.

equipment including motors, instruments and local control panel
supplied by the vendor.

Control Panel
Vendor to furnish one NEMA 4X local mounted control panel for left drum,
right drum and bypass control for each switch valve. The control panel
shall be
suitable for the electrical area classification noted herein.
Panels shall include all indicating lights, pushbuttons and switches for
operation of the valve.

WELDING REPAIR PROCEDURE


4.1

It should be noted Para. IX.E.2 JOB SPEC 37662-99B9 is not applicable to


this item, as all welds which are subject to repair should be corrected
per an approved welding repair procedure.

4.2

Vendor to submit two copies of weld repair procedure to the Purchaser for
approval.

NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING & EXAMINATION


5.1

In addition to the vendors standard practice the vendor shall perform the
following NDT examinations where applicable.
100% x ray of all pressure welds per ANSI B31.3 to 100% interpretation.
100% x ray of castings in accordance with MSS SP-54.
100% MT particle examination after machining per MSS SP-53.
Visual inspection per MSS SP-55.
Hydrostatic shell test and low pressure seat tests in accordance with API
598, Valve Inspection & Test.

5.2

Vendor to advise if any other tests are required per vendors standard
practice.

5.3

The purchaser or its clients reserves the right to witness all tests and
to inspect all items being furnished in the vendor's shop.
The vendor
shall notify the purchaser not less than two weeks in advance prior to any
tests being performed.

5.4

Vendor to furnish Mill test certificates for all materials that require
PMI. This item requires PMI per Job Spec 37662-89A3.
