Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Staff who went away with your children, I would like to say how well-behaved and such a credit they were to
you and us at Walton-le-Dale. It was a jam-packed weekend, with lots of instruction and no time to stop. Each group of children
pushed themselves to new heights and worked well as a team; some children even commented on how they were talking to and
supporting children in their year with whom they had never been friendly withwhich is what PGL is all about.

Friday:
We arrived, met our Groupies for the weekend Leggy and Mike, who were dressed as a Pirate and a Shark, we were shown
straight to our Log Cabin, and had a tour of the centre. For tea, there were three options, meatballs, cannelloni and fish, there
was puddings and a salad bar! After tea, we went to the shop, had a few minutes in our rooms and then headed for the
campfire, where sung songs and listened to stories. After that, it was time for bed and a few sweets, lights off 9:30.

Saturday:
Was our late breakfast morning, our lie in, except we were all up at 5:30am! Breakfast was a range of cereals, cooked breakfast,
yogurt, fruit. Then it was straight to morning activities each group had different activities:
Group 1 Zip wire : Archery; Group 2 Archery : Zip wire; Group 3 Giant swing : Rifle shooting; Group 4 : Rifle shooting: Giant
swing; Group 5 Zip Wire : Problem solving. Then we had lunch, soup and sandwiches.
After noon activities: Group 1 Climbing wall : Fencing; Group 2 Fencing: climbing wall; Group 3 Zip wire : Archery Group 4
Archery: Zip wire; Group 5 Rifle shooting : Giant Swing.
After our afternoon activities we had our shop time, tea, which today was Lasagne, Chicken Nuggets or Macaroni and Cheese.
The evening activity was called Photo Challenge, we had to use I pads and be tourists taking pictures / videos of famous people.
We were all very tired, light out 9:30.

Sunday:
Very tired, we got up REALLY early; we had early breakfast on this day! After breakfast we had a bit of time in our rooms before
sessions started.
Group 1 Giant swing: Rifle shooting; Group 2 Rifle shooting: Giant Swing; Group 3: Trapeze: Problem solving; Group 4 Problem
solving : Trapeze; Group 5 Fencing : Trapeze. Following these activities was our lunch session- Hot Dogs or omelette!
After lunch it was our water activity afternoon or building a raft, in the pouring rain! We were going to get wet anyway! We
worked as a team to build a raft that would float, learnt how to tie knots and use a paddle. We did all fall in and got very wet!
After getting showered, changed and returning to a warmer state, we had tea Roast Turkey or Stir Fry Chicken. Our evening
activities were Whacky Races. We were, at this point, very tired so the session was shortened and we had time to pack and
settle down earlier. Lights out at 9:20 (even though some of us were asleep before then!)

Monday:
We had to get our cases to a chillout zone before breakfast, then straight to activities, our final ones! Group 1 Trapeze:
Problem solving; Group 2 Problem solving: Trapeze; Group 3: Climbing wall: Fencing; Group 4 Fencing : Climbing wall Group 5
Archery : Climbing wall. We had our final lunch Pizza; then headed for the coach. We had a final goodbye picture with our
Groupie and one last skydive and homeward bound!
One jam packed weekend, I do hope your children enjoyed it, we as staff really enjoyed being away with them; we saw all of
your children conquer fears, push themselves and survive away from home!
We look forward now to showing you their production of Let Loose, which is linked to the weekend away that we just enjoyed.
The children were presented with their hoodies earlier this year; we would like them to be worn on our leavers trip.
Thank you
Team Year 6
