HLA Happenings

Coffee Hour. Drop in to interact with your colleagues. Graduate Students, this is your chance to chat with
faculty. Please bring your own cup.
On July 11th and July 15th, Vicki Stirm will be assisting with the PASA (Purdue Agribusiness Science Academy) Summer
Institute, in conjunction with the Office of Minority Programming in the College of Agriculture. A group of minority high
school students will be coming to Purdue for 2 weeks to attend the academy and a portion of those will attend Vickis
session focusing on Horticulture. Their main activities will focus on growing food on Mars in the future.
July 10-17th, Tamara Benjamin and Lori Hoagland will be hosting a PNW Hops and Small Farm Tour for a group of
Extension Educators and farmers to tour Hops farms across Washington and Oregon for education on hops production
and small farm agriculture.
Petrus Langenhoven will be attending Cultivate16, the largest all-industry tradeshow in North America, on Monday, July
11, 2016. Its held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus, OH.
Wednesday, July 15th, Plant Science & All-College Networking Gathering at HopKnoXious Farm 4-8 pm
Indiana consumers can connect with FoodLink, Purdue Extensions online hub for information about healthy fruits and
vegetables. The website provides selection, preparation, recipes, nutritional information, and more. Shoppers at
grocery stores, farmers markets, food pantries, and produce stands of participating vendors can use the QR reader on
their smart phones to scan the codes of fruits and vegetables. To access the FoodLink website, go to:
