Legal Services Authority (1st June, 2016 to 21st June, 2016).

Like all budding professionals even aspiring lawyers these days look for
opportunities to enhance their knowledge and experience while still pursuing
their law degrees. The glamour generally associated with the corporate world
attracts many, however, there are quite a few who are interested in
understanding the working of the justice delivery system in our country,
especially how it works for the have-nots.
Like every year, this year also Delhi State Legal Services Authority
received hundreds of application from law students who wanted to be
associated as interns with Delhi Legal State Authority during their summer
vacations in law schools.
After a careful scrutiny of their curriculum vitiea and the application
sent by these interested students, 140 students were accepted for the
internship in June, 2016.
In order to provide the best exposure to these young minds, a
comprehensive internship program was chalked out for them.
This program essentially had three components each serving a unique
purpose. The program required the students to visit various judicial and quasi
judicial bodies, non-governmental organizations, jail etc. to observe their
working and understand the practical conditions under which they function.
While these visits would usually last from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm, during the
second half of the day they were each assigned a legal topic to research
upon.

Further, they were expected to compile all their observations and

share their feedback with us regarding the working of the institutions which
they visited and also regarding the topic on which they carried out their
research.
For better co-ordination, the students were divided into groups of 10
each. An experienced panel lawyer from the panel of Delhi State Legal
Services Authority was directed to assist each group and act as their coordinator and mentor throughout the internship program. The students could
freely interact with the said co-ordinator to clarify doubts, if any regarding the

working of the institutions that they visited or pertaining to the topic on which
they were researching.
The program began on 01.06.2016 with a detailed orientation for all
the interns carried out by Ld. District & Sessions Judge (Head Quarter), Ld.

Authority. Ld. Secretary Central District Legal Services Authority, Ld.

institutions as per the schedule while vigorously working on the research
topics assigned to them.
Throughout the internship they were in regular touch with Ld.
Additional Secretary and Ld. Secretary New Delhi District Legal Services
Authority and frequently visited the Delhi State Legal Services Authority
(Head Office) to share their experience and seek inputs regarding the
research work that they were carrying out.

informative power point presentation that they had prepared on the research
topic assigned to them.
