MONSOON PREPAREDNESS Pre Monsoon Precautions + Identify low lying and water logged areas and provide suitable storm water drains to keep site free from water stagnation, + All barricading board & scaffolds must be checked and ensure stability If required, additional anchorage to be provided. * Do not keep any loose materials (GI sheets, wooden planks ete.) on the top of structures or sheds which can be blown away due to strong winds. + Provide stay anchors of adequate strength to the structures like pile rigs and other high rise structures with approved design. + Expedite backfilling activity wherever possible. If itis not possible to backfill, barricade the pits with suitable rigid fencing and also display warning boards and reflective lights. + Protect the edges of the excavated pits. Keep the excavated earth away from the edge of the pits. * Check and maintain emergency equipment. * Check the provision of lightning arrestors for high rise structures and equipment. Also, check the earth continuity and. earth resistance of the earthing system. + Lay alll power cables overhead / over the ground on portable stands/trays. + All the lamps should have protective guards to prevent water drops entering them. + Keep electrical equipment & distribution boards away from water (including rain, wet ground) and provide a shed. It is advisable to put weatherproof covers on electrical outlets. + Check that all the electrical equipment routed through RCCBs and MCBs are correctly protected. Ensure the tripping of RCCBs at 30 mA by a testing kit + Cover the drinking water tank to prevent contamination, + Pest control measures should be ensured. + Emergency response team should be identified, and their alertness to be ensured through mack dil + Local Meteorological department should be liaised on daily basis to gather weather forecast. During and After the Rain & Stor + Suspend all outdoor work activities during rain / storm. + Ensure all iting activities are suspended and all cranes are safely parked, tower cranes must be left on free slew position. Apply the winee! locks / storm locks for Gantry cranes. + Check all temporary works / formwork are secured properly. + Outdoor welding activities shall be suspended even if it's mild drizzling, + All the equipment lying on the platform at higher elevation should be secured by ropes and lashing to reduce the effect of strong winds. + Provide stay anchors of adequate strength to the structures like Pile rigs, Gantry cranes and other high rise structures with approved design. + Lower the booms of the Mobile cranes and anchor it. + Wind screen / glasses of crane / vehicles / equipment should be intact to prevent water entering the cabin + Try to got inside a shed. Flying debris can cause injury. + Placement of cranes, vehicles and transit mixers close to any excavated pit should be restricted to prevent toppling Conduct Daily inspection for cracks in excavated pits etc Stay of hilltops and other high points of land like trees telephone poles and electrical poles to safeguard from lightning Do not rush or hurry to resume work immediately after rain stops. Personnel shall be asked to wipe away the mud stuck to their shoes before climbing a ladder / platform at height. Scaffolding and falsework shall be inspected for its stability immediately after rains prior to starting any work activity, Ground shall be inspected for its required stability prior to operating any crane / tyre mounted equipment, + If power lines are down in the yard / site, always treat them as if they were energized and dangerous. Never touch them. Stay away. Call the electrician to report the location so repairs can be made as soon as possible. + Ifthe power line has fallen on your vehicle while you're in it, don’t touch anything metal in the vehicle, and stay inside until professional help arrives.
