Hartman-Principal Mrs. Lori Billman- Assistant Principal Mr. Eric Klansek- Assistant Principal June 6, 2016 To Whom It May Concern: This letter of recommendation introduces Ms. Amy Kauffman, a teacher at Emory H. Markle Intermediate School. Ms. Kauffman is applying for a position within your company or school district. As a teacher and an administrator, I enjoyed the opportunity of observing Ms. Kauffmans performance as a classroom teacher and as our Student Achievement Specialist. As the Student Achievement Specialist for the past eight years, Ms. Kauffman has provided professional development for teachers and staff at school. In addition, Ms. Kauffman has taken the lead in developing and facilitating our WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) program. The program is where current eighth graders mentor incoming sixth graders. This program has been very successful under Ms. Kauffmans direction and has given many eighth graders opportunities to develop leadership qualities that are needed in life. Ms. Kauffman has answered each one of these challenges with skilled decision making and dedication that would prove useful for the students and staff members at our school. Over the last fourteen years, Ms. Kauffman has met every challenge with confidence and perseverance. During the 2013-2014 school year, our building went to a StandardsBased Grading System and Ms. Kauffman was a main cog in getting our faculty to understand and use the system. Amy has taken the time necessary to get to know the students and staff at EHMIS. Ms. Kauffman is able to connect with them and give them the necessary guidance when making important decisions. This would carry over into a position within your organization. Ms. Kauffmans relationships and rapport with students, colleagues, and parents are exceptional. Amy is the kind of teacher and leader who will take the initiative with students and parents and go out of her way to develop effective relationships. Amy demonstrates a strong commitment to the school community and works with a sense of purpose and outstanding personal and professional values. Ms. Kauffman is a team player, always willing to provide assistance and support to a fellow teacher or adult at EHMIS. Ms. Kauffman has been a Team Captain, facilitator at PASC Summer Workshops, presenter at AMLE National Conference, and a South Western School District Teacher of the Year. Ms. Kauffman uses her leadership skills to direct teachers and staff to identify the needs of the students and assist them so that they can be successful in the classroom and in everyday life. This is further evidence of Ms. Kauffmans desire to serve students. Today, great school teachers are very difficult to find and keep. Ms. Kauffman would truly be an asset to any employer that would hire her. I recommend Amy Kauffman, without reservation, for a position in your company or school district. I have a great deal of respect and confidence in her ability and overall strengths as a teacher and leader. Please contact me if you have questions, or if I can provide additional information concerning Ms. Kauffman. Sincerely, Eric J. Klansek Assistant Principal Emory H.
