Class:

Standard Three (3)

Number in class:

six

Teacher:

Mrs Cian Ramsundar

Subject:

Science

Topic:

External parts of a flower

Date:

Objectives:
Draw and label the external parts of a flower showing the
petals, sepals, anther, filament (stamen), style and stigma (Pistil)
Differentiate between the male and female parts of the flower

Set Induction/ Engagement:

Students are divided into groups of three. The teacher presents a hibiscus
flower to pupils. Each group gets a flower and they discuss the parts they
know. This is recorded on a KWL chart.
The teacher then asks the students if they know what are the external parts
of the flower. She records this as W, What we want to know on the KWL
chart.
Exploration
A hibiscus flower is presented to pupils and the teacher points to the external
parts of the flower and names the parts. In selected groups based on
learning styles of students the students follow as they point and name the
external parts of their flower with the teacher then among themselves.

Learning Activity/Explanation
A video is shown to pupils which highlights the external parts of the flower.
In their groups, students reinforce what was explained earlier by pointing to
the parts of the flower as it is explained in the video.
The teacher then puts up a chart where she asks students to come up to find
the parts of the flower she names.
