CHAPTER 2
PROJECT BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
This chapter discusses the general information about the proposed
business of selected HRM student, which includes the history of the proposed
project, project proponents, proposed name of the business, form of
ownership and the proposed location.
As the food industry are in demand nowadays, the proponents got an
idea of conducting a feasibility study regarding establishing a restaurant
business. And because of the fast growing number of population and people
intend to travel and food is necessary needed, as food is one of the basic
needs. The proposed business can offer a new and unique dining destination.
2.1 BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PROJECT
The proponents goal is to become successful and great entrepreneurs.
A great entrepreneur humbly begins with a small business, but since they
are group of HRM students, the proponents, with the same goal, came up
establishing a business.
The reason why they have chosen this kind of business is, not only to
gain profit, but also to enhance and develop their knowledge and skills in
handling business, making their own decision, discovering new ideas and
organizing plans, since their goals is to become great entrepreneur someday.

The proposed restaurant business will be offering unique dining

experience, wide variety of Filipino dishes incorporated with well known
Japanese dishes in just one plate, different attractions, and state of the art
facilities with the Filipino-Japanese ambience that could not be found in any
other existing restaurants nowadays. As great entrepreneurs, we are looking
forward to become well known and be recognized, not only locally, but also
internationally.
With one vision, the proponents looked up for feasible location. They
found one in the heart of University Belt. After they visited the place, they
found out that the said location has a very big potential to put a restaurant
business.
2.2 PROPONENTS OF THE PROJECT
The proponents of the study, with one goal of having their own
restaurant business someday, are consisting of fourth year HRM students.
Having this vision, to establishing their own restaurant business is a huge
opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge learned as they graduate in
Hotel and Restaurant Management course.

The proponents are Ana Marie

Acosta, Paula Agas, Catherine Galicia, Maryjoy Anjoenette Gapati, Julie Ann
Mansujeto, Norena Nordan, Maritess Ramos, Ronald Rodriguez, Adrienne
Cerisse Tapiaodor and Angelica Uy.

2.3 PROPOSE NAME

The proponents took a long time in deciding what should be the best
name for the business. Different suggestions and ideas were brought up,
until decided to base it from everyones desire. Because the proponents are
a huge fan of Japanese cuisine they came up with the name Riceshiri,
shiri means bun in Japanese term. We end up combining the rice and shiri
means ricebun or rice burger. The proponents wanted their restaurant
business to be known and may have several franchises outside the country.
2.4 PROPOSE TYPE OF BUSINESS OWNERSHIP
Ownership is the legal title controlling over the thing owned and the
right of possession.
In this business, the proponents are in favor with the General
Partnership as form of business ownership. Where each partner pools their
resources, share the profits, debts and liabilities of the business. Having this
form of ownership, each partner has the advantage of shared obligations and
responsibilities.
2.5 LOCATION OF THE BUSINESS
The proposed business, Rceshiri, will be located at #908 Nicanor
Reyes Sr. Street, Sampaloc Manila, which is found in the heart of University
Belt.

Searching in for a potential location for the restaurant business is quite

hard as the competition in food industry becomes in demand, the
proponents takes consideration in some factors. This involves market factor,
which is the most important than the locations price. Since it is situated at
the

University Belt

in Manila

where

different

schools,

colleges

and

universities where be found, it would be easy for the proposed business to

attract customers especially students.
Proponents also considered the traffic volume along the vicinity;
Motorists could easily notice the proposed restaurant business. Accessibility
was also considered. The proposed location is near the main road Espana
Boulevard and Claro M. Recto Avenue, with leads to access to the different
cities like Makati, Pasig, Pasay and Quezon City.
