(6) Objective - Students will be able to brainstorm, organize and develop sentences to
make a story based on what they learn about the subject that week.
(7) Materials needed to facilitate the lesson Books about the subject to read to the
class, 3 sheets of crate paper, marker, 25 lined paper for students, 25 books to publish
story in, crayons, pencil.
(8) Procedures
Monday- The teacher will write on crate paper at the white board what the class already
knows about turtles in one column, what they want to learn in another column and in the
third column we will leave blank until later in the week then well write what they
learned about turtles. After the class comes up with these ideas they will got to the rug
and I will read a book about turtles to the class.

Tuesday- I will start the writing portion of class on the rug and read a nonfiction book
about turtles to the students. At the rug Ill ask the students about the book we just read.
Then Ill have the students go back to their desks and we will write in that third column
of what we learned about turtles in that third column we left blank on Monday.
Wednesday- I will be at the front of the class and as a class we will come up with a few
sentences on what we learned about the turtles. I will write a few of the ideas on the crate
paper so all the students know what they need to do. They need to come up with 5
sentences about turtles. I will remind them about the correct punctuation they need in
their sentences.
Thursday The class will come up with some titles for their story. I will write some of
these ideas on crate paper. I will then hand out the book to each student and they will
write their story about turtles in the book provided. They need to write the Tilte and
author on the cover then write their sentences they came up with on Wednesday and write
them on the pages provided in the book. Once the finish their sentences they can draw
pictures for each sentence in their book.
Friday They will have the opportunity to read their story to the class. Then will turn in
the story in the black box.
